geertwilders.jpgAfter few refusals of TV stations and websites to broadcast Geert Wilders’ anti-Islam movie ‘Fitna’, and attempts behind the scenes, encouraged by USA and Holland administration, to prevent wide publication of the disputed footage, Fitna was posted in few web sites on 03/27/2008. The film sharply criticizes the Islam of nowadays as a brutal threat to the world and ends with the words “defend your freedom”.

Fitna in Arabic means a combination of social chaos, anarchy and civil war.

Geert Wilders is a Dutch PM who began his political carrier as a speech-writer for the liberal VVD party in Holland. Ayaan Hirsi Ali was a PM on behalf of the liberal VVD party, before she was eventually forced to flee Holland when the Dutch government failed to protect her after she produced, with the film director Theo van Gogh , a short movie that dealt with violence against women in Islamic societies. Theo van Gogh himself was assassinated by a fanatic Muslim on 11/02/2004.

Following Theo van Gogh’s murder, Geert Wilders set up his Freedom Party (PVV), attracting later widespread political support for his call for a ban on the burqa – which covers most of the body – even though the measure would have affected only around 50 women. In 2006 elections his Freedom Party picked 9 seats in the Dutch parliament.

The Fitna movie challenges the boundaries of freedom of speech in Europe versus the attempt of Islamists in Europe and the world to exclude the debate about Islamic society.  According to Islamists the subject of the Islamic society as in the case of Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s movie, or about the Prophet Muhammad as in the case of Muhammad Cartoons in Denmark, and about the Islam as a religion in the latest Fitna footage, should be banned from any public debate as they consider it an insult to Islam.

Fitna footage is a part of the Cultural Conflict between Western Democracies and the Global Jihad.  Film is availabe for viewing on Right Side News.
