U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter January 27 – February 2, 2011

‘Border Patrol agents seized over 30,544 pounds of marijuana and 5.5 pounds of heroin. Agents arrested six criminal aliens and five gang members. There were seven rocking incidents.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Hillsboro, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction for statutory rape and had been previously removed from the United States.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near San Ygnacio, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for indecency with a child and had been previously removed from the United States.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 4,476 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a national of Cuba at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the trailer, and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 6,024 pounds of marijuana and arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico near Garceno, Texas. Agents received information regarding a possible load of narcotics being stored in the woods and responded to the area. They observed two subjects and the bundled marijuana concealed in the brush.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,340 pounds of marijuana and a cargo van near Penitas, Texas. The vehicle failed to yield to agents, and was subsequently abandoned by the driver who absconded into Mexico. A search of the vehicle revealed the marijuana. Reported on

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Colmar Vagos Trece gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Ecuador near Alamogordo, New Mexico. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for criminal sexual contact and had been previously removed from the United States.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Gardendale, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,881 pounds of marijuana near Casa Grande, Arizona. Agents discovered the abandoned marijuana while on patrol.Reported on

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,199 pounds of marijuana and a Ford truck near Alamo, Texas. Agents observed a vehicle traveling north with its headlights off and attempted to make contact with the driver. Upon seeing the agents, the driver turned south, drove through a closed gate and absconded into the brush. Agents discovered the marijuana in the abandoned vehicle.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,557 pounds of marijuana near Ajo, Arizona. Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 741 pounds of marijuana and three vehicles near Randado, Texas. Agents observed unidentified subjects loading suspected contraband into the vehicles. As agents approached, the subjects absconded. The driver of one of the vehicles attempted to run over an agent and fled at a high rate of speed. The driver later abandoned the vehicle and absconded. Agents subsequently re-located all three vehicles and found the marijuana inside.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,978 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,157 pounds of marijuana and arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico near Lukeville, Arizona. Agents were tracking a group of suspected illegal aliens when they encountered the subjects and the marijuana in the brush.Reported on

San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Imperial Beach, California. When agents attempted to take the subject into custody, the subject threw rocks at agents and attempted to strike agents with a tree branch. An agent deployed an electronic control device, and the subject was taken into custody without further incident.Reported on

Del Rio Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Carrizo Springs, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had active warrants of arrest for aggravated sexual assault of a child, indecency with a child by way of sexual contact and indecency with a child by way of exposure issued in the state of Texas. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Columbus, New Mexico. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the South Siders gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.

Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,025 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested two USCs at the traffic checkpoint near Sierra Blanca, Texas. The subjects presented themselves for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the trailer. A search by agents uncovered the marijuana.

El Centro Sector РBorder Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ocotillo, California. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Norte̱o gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest for homicide issued in the state of California.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,728 pounds of marijuana after responding to a report of suspicious activity near Charco, Arizona. Agents followed tire sign and discovered an abandoned Chevrolet Suburban hidden off-road and covered by a tarp. Agents discovered the marijuana inside the vehicle. Records checks revealed the vehicle was reported stolen from Glendale, Arizona.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,068 pounds of marijuana and a Jeep Cherokee near Cockleburr, Arizona. Agents discovered the vehicle abandoned and a search revealed the marijuana inside.
