U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter April 7 – April 13, 2011

Border Patrol agents seized over 13,263 pounds of marijuana and 402.45 pounds of cocaine. Agents arrested seven criminal aliens and eight gang members. There were six rocking incidents.

 Reported on April 7, 2011

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 88 pounds of cocaine, a Ford truck, and arrested a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Calexico, California. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the cocaine.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Zapata, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Mexican Mafia prison gang. Records checks revealed the subject was an escapee from a prison in Mexico and had been previously removed from the United States.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 803 rounds of ammunition, a double-edged knife, and three swords near Lukeville, Arizona. Agents observed several suspected illegal entrants and responded to the area. When agents approached, the subjects fled into Mexico and abandoned the contraband.

 El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a national of Mexico, 11 illegal aliens from Mexico, and seized a tractor-trailer at the traffic checkpoint near Niland, California. The national of Mexico presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the 11 illegal aliens hidden in the trailer.

 Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Freer, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Sureño 13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.

Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,209 pounds of marijuana, a Dodge truck, a horse trailer, livestock, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) at the traffic checkpoint near Marfa, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,704 pounds of marijuana and recovered a stolen truck near Stanfield, Arizona. Agents were following tire tracks when they encountered the abandoned truck containing the marijuana.

 Yuma Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,000 pounds of marijuana and a Jeep Cherokee near San Luis, Arizona. Agents discovered the marijuana inside the vehicle after the two occupants absconded into Mexico on foot.

 Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Guatemala near Rio Grande City, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,426 pounds of marijuana, two vehicles, and arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Why, Arizona. Records checks revealed that one of the vehicles was reported stolen.

 Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,908 pounds of marijuana and a pickup truck near Ajo, Arizona. The vehicle containing the marijuana was found abandoned in the desert.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,761 pounds of marijuana and recovered a stolen vehicle while tracking tire sign near Stanfield, Arizona.

Buffalo Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued two citizens of Canada in the Lower Niagara River after their boat capsized near Lewiston, New York. The subjects were transported to a local hospital where they were treated for symptoms of hypothermia and released.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Centro, California. Records checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender and had been previously removed from the United States.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Arivaca, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction for sexual assault of a child in the state of Nebraska. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico in El Paso, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the 18th Street gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 249.9 pounds of cocaine and arrested two USCs at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subjects presented themselves for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the vehicle and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the cocaine. Records checks revealed both subjects had criminal histories.

Yuma Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Andrade, California. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the MS-13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ocotillo, California. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for voluntary manslaughter in the state of California and had been previously removed from the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ocotillo, California. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the 18th Street gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.

San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 182 pounds of marijuana near Otay Mesa, California. Agents observed an ultralight aircraft (ULA) incursion and responded to the suspected drop zone. The marijuana was discovered at the drop zone and the ULA was observed returning to Mexico.

Yuma Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued a USC near Yuma, Arizona. Agents conducting riverine operations on the Colorado River received a report of a missing personal watercraft operator. A search was initiated and agents rescued the semi-coherent subject from the river.

El Paso Sector РBorder Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Sure̱o gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 441 pounds of marijuana, a Buick sedan, and arrested a USC near Laredo, Texas.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 64.55 pounds of cocaine, 511 pounds of marijuana and a Plymouth sedan near Abram, Texas. Upon observing agents, the driver abandoned the vehicle and absconded. The contraband was found in the vehicle.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,565 pounds of marijuana, a Chevrolet Suburban, and homemade tire spikes designed to deflate tires near Los Ebanos, Texas. The marijuana, vehicle and tire spikes were found abandoned.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,556 pounds of marijuana, a Chevrolet Tahoe, and arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Why, Arizona. Agents observed the vehicle traveling without lights and with three subjects riding on the roof. The subjects abandoned the vehicle in the desert and absconded on foot. The marijuana was discovered in the vehicle and the arrestee was located during a search of the immediate area. SOURCE: CPB.Gov
