Over the past few months, many questions have been asked regarding the “mysterious Maltese Professor”, Joseph Mifsud and his involvement in the “Trump – Russia” conspiracy. Disobedient Media’s Elizabeth Vos first reported on both professor Mifsud and Russiagate’s many connections to British Intelligence, as well as the findings of Chris Blackburn, who recounted evidence of Mifsud’s close relationship with Italian Senator Gianni Pittella.
In July of 2016, during the heat of the 2016 Presidential election, Pittella attended the Democratic National Convention where he was interviewed by TIME Magazine. In the interview, Pittella formally endorsed then candidate Hillary Clinton, stating: “I have taken the unprecedented step of endorsing and campaigning for Hillary Clinton because the risk of Donald Trump is too high,” Pittella told TIME. “I believe it is in the interest of the European Union and Italy to have Hillary Clinton in office. A Trump victory could be a disaster for the relationship between the U.S.A. and Italy.”
Pittella continued, stating: “This campaign is special…This campaign is not between Democrat or Republican. It’s between democracy and no democracy in the U.S. It’s between having a relationship between the U.S. and the E.U. and the U.S. and other countries, or not. And Italian citizens, together with the world, have the duty not only to intervene, but to act, to support Hillary’s campaign.”
Pittella also spoke at the DNC in Philadelphia, decrying the “virus of populism”, stating that the U.S. “[has] the same virus in your society. And this virus is represented by Donald Trump.”
However, according to internal documents from George Soros Open Society Foundation leaked in 2016, Pittella is considered to be a close ally of Soros. The 127-page document by the Open Society European Policy Institute, titled “Reliable allies in the European Parliament (2014 – 2019)”, lists the names of 226 EU MEPs that are likely to support the Open Society Foundation and its many initiatives. Included among the names of 226 MEPs is that of Gianni Pittella.
According to the document, Pittella is one of six members of the EU’s Conference of Presidents, the highest political decision-making body of the European Parliament, whom are deemed to be among the Open Society Foundation’s reliable allies in the EU.
Using his influence as a highly regarded member of European Parliament, Pittella inserted himself into American politics during the 2016 Presidential race.
Lee Smith of Real Clear Politics, later reported on Chris Blackburn’s exceptional research, including Mifsud’s relationship with Pittella.
Disobedient Media will continue to follow this story as it develops.
Gulftainer is the Iraqi Jafar family’s UAE-based ports company that is tightly connected to Russia and Saddam Hussein’s nuclear weapons programs.
In 2014 the Obama administration awarded Gulftainer a 35-year lease to Florida’s Port Canaveral cargo container terminal in a secret deal code-named “Project Pelican.”
Jafars partner with Russia’s Inter RAO UES, a subsidiary of Rosatom, majority owner of Uranium One
In 2011, Gulftainer affiliate Crescent Investments partnered via a Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Russia’s state-owned power station operator and electricity import-export monopoly Inter RAO UES.
At that time, Inter RAO UES was a subsidiary of Russia’s Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation. Rosatom is the Russian company that purchased Uranium One.
The Russian government’s military industrial complex, petroleum industry, electrical power grid, nuclear energy sector, and nuclear weapons complex, are all components of a giant web of state-controlled enterprises. Their business structures may routinely shift like the sand dunes in a desert, but these key sectors always remain under the control of Vladimir Putin and the Kremlin.
Rosatom controls Russia’s sprawling nuclear weapons production complex.
Rosatom purchased Canadian mining company Uranium One in a deal that transferred control of one-fifth of U.S. uranium reserves, a strategic national security commodity critical to U.S. nuclear defense, into the hands of Russia and Vladimir Putin.
Inter RAO UES is chaired by Igor Sechin who at the time of the Crescent Investment deal was Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister and the head of Russia’s petroleum giant Rosneft.
Rosneft is a Russian state-owned enterprise in business with Crescent Petroleum, another Gulftainer affiliate.
Forbes reported in January 2018 that Sechin, known as “the Darth Vader of Russia, is “more powerful than Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev,” “more powerful than Vladimir Putin” and “feared more than Putin.”
Management frequently moves among Rosatom, Inter RAO UES, and Uranium One
The management of Inter RAO UES, Uranium One, and Uranium One’s majority owner Rosatom, has been a revolving door. Management moves among these three Russian companies freely and frequently.
Boris Kovalchuk is Chairman of the Management Board, Inter RAO. “In 2009, he (Kovalchuk) was Deputy Director General for Development of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom” according to Inter RAO’s 2015 Annual Report. Rosatom’s acquisition of Uranium One was well underway in 2009.
Mikhail Kontserev, Senior Vice President of Uranium One Group, “served as CEO of the joint venture of ROSATOM and INTER RAO – INTER RAO UES Energy Efficiency Center LLC” according to his biography featured on Uranium One’s official website.
The Iraqi Jafar Family’s History With WMD
The Crescent Group Chairman and Gulftainer co-owner Hamid Jafar and his brother and business partner, rogue Iraqi nuclear physicist Dr. Jafar Dhia Jafar, were both deeply involved in Saddam Hussein’s massive top-secret uranium enrichment and nuclear weapons programs.
The Pentagon placed Dr. Jafar on CENTCOM’s “Blacklist” in 2003, designated Jafar as a senior Saddam regime official enemy combatant who was wanted for capture and could be legitimately targeted by U.S. and coalition military forces.
To the surprise of UN weapons inspector David Kay, Dr. Jafar was able to draw detailed diagrams from memory showing exactly how to build a nuclear weapon.
Dr. Jafar stated “You can bomb our buildings. You can destroy our technology. But you cannot take it out of our heads. We now have the capability.”
Dr. Jafar is also known for his miniaturized nuclear weapon, the Iraqi “Beach Ball.”
North Korea’s Kim Jong Un was seen in 2017 on North Korean television with a what appeared to be a miniaturized nuclear weapon strikingly similar to Dr. Jafar’s “Beach Ball.” Dr. Jafar and Kim Jong Un’s father’s regime worked in concert for a delivery system for a North Korean ballistic missile production line to be built in Iraq.
Dr. Jafar’s brother, Crescent Group Chairman Hamid Jafar, also came under scrutiny. Hamid Jafar was investigated by multiple Congressional committees and the U.S. Treasury Department for operating Crescent Petroleum as a Saddam front company in a WMD funding scheme known as “Oil-For-Superweapons.”
The Obama administration awarded the Jafar family’s Gulftainer the keys to Port Canaveral’s cargo container terminal despite the fact that Soviet-trained nuclear physicist Dr. Jafar, an Electromagnetic Isotope Separation (EMIS) uranium enrichment expert, oversaw a clandestine Iraqi program to enrich uranium to weapons-grade military specifications in pursuit of Saddam’s “Arab Bomb.”
Dr. Jafar is the CEO of Crescent Group subsidiary Uruk Power, which builds power stations.
Dr. Jafar repurposed Iraqi power stations to clandestinely send electricity to his secret EMIS uranium enrichment WMD sites in support of Jafar’s and Saddam’s “Arab Bomb” program.
Dr. Jafar has taken the lead in Crescent’s partnership with Inter RAO, working with the Russians on new power plant projects in the Middle East. According to Dr. Jafar’s nephew Badr Jafar:
“Looking at opportunities within Russia itself, the other main subsidiary of the Crescent Group, Crescent Enterprises, owns a company called Gulftainer, which today is the largest privately owned port operator in the world in terms of operated volumes. Gulftainer is looking to expand its geographic footprint by investing in Russia’s underdeveloped Ports and Logistics sector, specifically the management of container terminals, logistics partnerships, and inland depots. Another one of Crescent Enterprises’ subsidiaries, URUK Power, is active in the power sector and is looking at power opportunities alongside Inter RAO UES, one of Russia’s largest energy companies.” – Badr Jafar, CEO of Crescent Enterprises and President of Crescent Petroleum – Leaders Magazine interview – October 4, 2013
Port Canaveral is the nexus of critical military and space infrastructure
Port Canaveral is critical military infrastructure and a major U.S. port integral to U.S. national defense and space security.
Port Canaveral is adjacent to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center and Canaveral Air Force Station, where American spy satellites are launched.
Gulftainer’s Port Canaveral cargo container terminal sits a few hundred yards from a U.S. Navy Trident nuclear submarine base.
Russia’s Club-K Container Cruise Missile Launch System – A game changer
As we previously reported, the Jafar’s Gulftainer has entered into a joint venture with Russia’s state-owned weapons manufacturer Rostec. Rostec exports Russia’s Trojan Horse Club-K cargo container cruise missile launch system through Rostec’s wholly-owned subsidiary Rosoboronexport.
The Club-K is designed to look identical to standard cargo containers. The Club-K allows Russia and her rogue regime allies stealth access to the United States. The Club-K bypasses early-warning systems by launching Russian Kalibr cruise missiles armed with nuclear, EMP, or conventional warheads from cargo ships off U.S. shores or from trains, trucks, and riverine boats inside every hamlet in America.
These Russian cruise missiles are capable of flying at supersonic speeds beneath U.S. early-warning radar systems from Trojan Horse “cargo containers,” simultaneously travelling toward multiple cities or other satellite-guided coordinates across the United States.
The Jafars entered into their joint venture with Rostec in 2010.
Why was this dire threat ignored by the Obama administration officials who helped Gulftainer secure a lease at Port Canaveral and bypass the required National Security Threat Analysis?
No CFIUS review for “Project Pelican” Gulftainer deal
The Obama administration declined to subject the “Project Pelican” Gulftainer Port Canaveral deal to the mandated Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) National Security Threat Analysis.
That National Security Threat Analysis, which includes input from sixteen U.S. intelligence agencies, was bypassed by the Obama administration.
That review would have revealed that the Jafars were at the center of Saddam Hussein’s uranium enrichment and nuclear weapons programs.
The mandated CFIUS review would have also revealed that the Jafars had partnered with Russian state-owned companies behind the Uranium One deal.
That CFIUS review would also have shown that the Jafars are inextricably intertwined with the Russian companies behind the production of Russian nuclear weapons, and are behind the export of the Club-K container cruise missile launch system – all Russian military-industrial weapons programs that could be used in a surprise attack against America using cruise missiles launched from “cargo containers.”
Clintons tied to Gulftainer “Project Pelican” deal and to Uranium One deal
“Hillary Clinton’s State Department was one of eight agencies to review and sign off on the sale of U.S. uranium to Russia. However, the then-Secretary of State Clinton was the only agency head whose family foundation received $145 million in donations from multiple people connected to the uranium deal, as reported by the New York Times.”
As previously reported, Bill Clinton co-chairs the Dubai-based Business Backs Education program alongside Crescent Petroleum CEO Majid Jafar. Business Backs Education is funded by the Varkey GEMS Foundation.
“The Varkey GEMS Foundation has helped to facilitate more than 2,300 commitments through the Clinton Global Initiative to date. Upon funding and implementation, these commitments will have a total value of over $70 billion.”
Gates Foundation, World Bank hire auditor, ask The Abraaj Group: Where is our money?
Hamid Jafar is founding shareholder of Pakistani private equity firm The Abraaj Group.
The Wall Street Journal reported on February 2, 2018 that The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, The World Bank International FInance Corporation (IFC), and two other institutional investors asked The Abraaj Group for bank statements to determine what happened to hundreds of millions of dollars sent to Abraaj’s $1 billion health care fund that were earmarked for construction of hospitals and medical clinics in Pakistan, India, Nigeria, and Kenya. After The Abraaj Group refused to turn over bank statements, the investors retained auditing firm Ankura Consulting Group to conduct a forensic trace on the money.
Reuters UK reports that “Mr. (Hamid) Jafar is Chairman of Gulftainer Ltd, Founding Shareholder of Abraaj Capital, and URUK Group.”
Gulftainer is a unit of Crescent Enterprises, a subsidiary of the Jafars’ Crescent Group. The CEO of Crescent Enterprises is Badr Jafar. Badr Jafar is also a member of The Abraaj Group Board of Directors in addition to serving as the Chairman of the Gulftainer Executive Board.
“As a Founding Shareholder and Limited Partner of Abraaj, Crescent Enterprises monitors the performance of all invested funds, and takes a keen interest in the strategic rationale employed by Abraaj on select investment decisions, including review of coinvestment opportunities whenever possible. Crescent Enterprises also provides strategic guidance by means of representation on Abraaj’s Board of Directors.”
Wahid Hamid, a former Pakistani foreign student who attended Occidental College with Barack Obama, and remains very close to the former president, is a Managing Partner of The Abraaj Group. Wahid Hamid travelled with Barack Obama during his mysterious 1981 trip to Pakistan.
“Weeks before co-sponsoring the 2012 Clinton Global Initiative meeting, The Abraaj Group was awarded the first of hundreds of millions of dollars in loans and investment management contracts through the State Department’s Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), a federal agency overseen by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.”
The Washington Free Beacon reported in 2016 that The Abraaj Group donated between $500,000 and $1 million to the Clinton Foundation around the same time the private equity firm received OPIC funds management contracts and loans through the State Department.
“Authorities in Sindh province (Pakistan) have accused a prominent government official of providing illegal favors to K-Electric, a power company owned and managed by the Abraaj Group since 2009.
Former Pakistani oil minister Dr. Asim Hussain was arrested last year amid allegations that he helped harbor terrorists in a string of hospitals he owned and doled out illegal contracts to companies, including K-Electric. Both Hussain and K-Electric have denied the allegations.”
This jaw-droppingly stunning breach of U.S national security by the Obama administration – placing Gulftainer “inside the wire” at Port Canaveral at a U.S. defense and space nerve center, with a cargo container terminal lease, while knowing about Gulftainer’s joint venture with Russia’s exporter of an advanced weapons system – is well beyond “boneheaded.”
Considering that (i) Dr. Jafar was successful in designing Saddam’s uranium enrichment programs and miniaturized nuclear weapons (“Beach Ball”), (ii) Hamid Jafar funded Saddam’s nuclear weapons programs, (iii) CENTCOM declared Dr. Jafar an enemy of the United States, (iv) the Jafars partnered with the Russian state-owned companies behind the Uranium One deal, and (v) the Jafars partnered with the Russian company that exports the stealth Club-K weapons launching system – the Obama administration has a lot of explaining to do.
As our FBI used to say….”There are no coincidences.”

The roots of collectivism have been alive and growing since the election of FDR in 1933. Although these tendencies have generally remained unstated; It is informative that Obama in 2008 actually admitted it in his conversation with “Joe the plumber” in Ohio where he essentially said collectivism is now official policy when he said
“I think when you spread the wealth around you help everyone”.
What Obama openly advocated in 2008, FDR could not openly advocate in 1933. Therefore FDR used techniques of mis-representation and lack of openness to implement his ideas. FDR was helped by left leaning and Communist agents in his administration these included: Henry Wallace, Harry Dexter White, Alger Hiss, and Harry Hopkins (these names will come up later).
It should be noted that FDR had Congress give him broad unilateral powers so particular actions were not subject to the “give and take” surrounding individual Congressional enactments. He created federal agencies with the ability to issue regulations and enforce their own regulations by running mini-court systems within each agency . When he ran into resistance from the Federal Courts who disapproved of such grants of legislative powers to the executive, he threatened to increase the number of Justices from 9 to 15 thus creating 6 vacancies that he, FDR, could fill with his “flunkies”.
The author also points out how the Bush and Obama administrations used similar misrepresentation techniques in the 2000 to 2016 time frame to separate violent Islam from regular Islam in the minds of the average US citizen. This separation is less pronounced than American leaders have admitted.
The west sugarcoated the truth over many decades about the Soviets. At the Bush meeting with Yeltsin in 1989, Bush refused to call a spade a spade. The West finally had a Russian leader ready to discuss things openly and Bush said “let’s not”
In the lend lease period at the beginning of the second WWII , FDR refused to speak the truth as he allowed nearly all war production to go to the USSR instead of sending it to MacArthur who was trying to defend the Philippines and the British who were trying to keep the Japanese out of Singapore.
Here are the facts: half a million trucks and jeeps, $1 billion (1940 dollars) of ordnance and ammo, thousands of fighter aircraft, bombers, and tanks, 13 million pairs of winter boots, 1.7 million tons of petroleum products, 1000 steam locomotives, 581 naval vessels. Even Khrushchev in a candid moment in 1970 said it would be hard to imagine how the Red Army would have gotten from Stalingrad to Berlin without them.
To get an idea of how extreme our aid to Russia was, consider this quote:
“… and it also included non-military supplies …. a tire plant, an oil refinery, an unstated number of pipe fabrication works, nearly a million miles of copper wire which was shipped at the very end of the war, tens of millions of dollars worth of switchboards, lathes and power tools machinery for textile making, woodworking machines, typesetting machines, air compressors, coal cutters, 18.4 million pounds of writing paper, $152 million in women’s dress goods, cigarette cases, compacts, lipsticks, jeweled watches, pianos, etc.”
George Kennan would write of all this:
“there was no reason for continuing a program of lavish and indiscriminate aid to the USSR at a time when there was increasing doubt whether her purposes in Eastern Europe … would be ones that we Americans could approve of or sponsor.”
When Yeltsin came to power, he wanted to have trials of the people who ran the Gulag and the USSR police state. Western countries en masse demanded he not do that because the political parties of the left in their countries had a deep involvement with USSR operators and these relationships had to be kept secret.
The author, Diana West, presents an interesting series of facts and questions that play off against each other:
Truman would not thank Whitaker Chambers for standing up against Hiss in perjury trial. Truman wanted to keep the misdeeds of the past buried.
FDR shut down Rep Martin Dies investigation into Communists in government during WWII.
Later there was a reluctance on the part of Congress to support Sen. Joe McCarthy’s investigations
Rep. Dies advises Sen McCarthy to go slowly
Sen. McCarthy, the FBI, and Rep Dies knew there were 500 traitors in government but they had trouble getting traction in the US government to root them out .
However, M Stanton Evans, a columnist, discovered references to 106 internal memos that documented Communists in the State Dept. All originals and copies of these 106 memos have disappeared as have certain copies which had been provided to Congress.
What is the purpose of losing history …. or rather throwing away our history?
Sen McCarthy in 1954 was America’s 4th most admired person according to Gallup.
So why is his name held in such disrepute today?
Today American historians accept that Communism was perhaps bad, but Joe McCarthy is considered to be beyond the pale far worse than any Communist.
Truman knew by 1950 about Hiss and White but did nothing. Why?
Venona showed positively that Soviet spies were active but today if a writer uses Venona to support his work; he will be asked “Have you no shame?”.
About Dis-information – The golden age of Soviet espionage in US was ‘33 to ‘45 exactly overlapping FDR’s time in White House. Elizabeth Bentley (who had earlier been married to a Soviet spymaster in NY who died suddenly) fingered 150 Soviet spies when she walked into a Connecticut FBI office in Nov ‘45. She should be remembered by her alma mater, Vassar, as a modern day heroine just a Nathan Hale is remembered at Yale with a statue. Recall Soviets believed in both spying and dis-information .
The US Ambassador to Moscow in ‘36 to ‘38, Joe Davies, was a constant mouthpiece covering up Soviet misdeeds. The author points to Soviet fellow travelers who spiked anti-communist movie ideas even into the late ‘40s This process of spiking anti-Communist ideas began in 1939. For instance, a Trotsky book critical of Stalin was spiked in 1940. Trotsky, who had been a confident of Lenin, had been killed by Soviet agents in Mexico just as he had finished writing the book.
George Orwell fought for the pro-Communist forces in Spain during the 30’s. He read reports on battles which had never occurred and he failed to see any reports of battles that had occurred. He determined the Soviets simply rewrote history in this way to have it say what they wanted. That is when he became an anti totalitarian.
Robert Conquest, a British historian, in 1985 documented the Russian famine and the show trials of the 1930’s. He was astounded by the ability of British intellectuals to accept the basic facts he presented but reject his conclusion that collectivism leads to extremes. They said he had middle class prejudices against those things needed to “build” a better society. Ronald Reagan’s remark about the “evil Empire” was actually delivered in the midst of a longer talk where he warned against equating all systems of whatever kind..
The govt. created a OWI (Office of War Information) designed to control and shape news particularly about the Soviets. This office was able cover up the Soviet massacre of Polish offices in Kalyn Forrest by the USSR and it arranged to get a pro Soviet film that had written by a Communist made. This film called Mission to Moscow. It turned out later that about 20 Communists were manning the top spots in the OWI.
There was a steady flow of secret information sent through the “over the pole” flights from Montana to Russia run by Lend Lease. Major Jordon, in his book Major Jordon’s Diaries, documents this flow of information (e.g. drawings for making A-bombs and other physical things (e.g. yellow cake uranium which is used to make A-bombs)). These diaries also record 418 Soviet “diplomatic” personal who came into the US via this air link.
The Lend Lease organization wanted test results from the Manhattan Project showing which approaches to making the bomb were most promising but Gen Groves at the Project objected to giving test data up. Later when Truman at Potsdam told Stalin that US had a new “big bomb”. Stalin was already fully aware of it. During this time Major Jordon recalls a large map with a note attached. The map was of Oak Ridge TN and showed the Manhattan Project’s facility located there. The transmittal note was signed by someone whose initials were “H.H.”
Soviet cooperation was not coming the other way. One plane on the 1942 Dolittle Mission over Tokyo was improperly fueled. It was forced to land in Russia rather than China. The crew was held captive for one year before release.
A Soviet named Krochenko defected and Harry Hopkins, who was living at the White House and serving as FDR’s assistant, insisted that the defector be returned to the Soviets. FDR wavered and Krochenko want into uncertain status until Truman came into office and finally granted asylum.
Lend Lease was Armand Hammer’s idea but the details were worked out by Harry Dexter While in Treasury. It was a massive “give away” mostly to Russia (and to a much lesser extent Britain) . It was justified to Congress by the slogan “if we help our friends materially, we won’t have to send men ”.
During the war Gen Marshall was fond of saying “Harry Hopkins is here to represent Russia’s interests, I’m here to represent America’s”
Deception of Communism and the Hopkins’ Soviet connection is discussed. If historians acknowledge that Hopkins was probably a Communist, then that casts a pall over all FDR’s decision making during WWII. So rather than face that reality historians have generally gone the other way and obfuscated Hopkins’ loyalties.
A Communist named John Service worked for a magazine named Amerasia and was caught with 1000 pounds of classified documents. This case was strong but for some reason it was miss handled and never came to trial. Also there was a man named Silvermaster in Washington who had a photo lab in his basement where took pictures of classified documents for transmittal to Russia.
Part of post war failure to prosecute Singer was Truman’s preference for concealment rather than transparency. Truman’s people even threatened Chambers with indictment if he testified against Hiss. However, military intelligence (Venona) had already determined that Hiss was a spy so Truman backed off.
This chapter is about Hopkins and the degree to which the Soviets had co-oped the US govt. Hopkins lived in the White House for 3 yrs and 7 months during the critical early months of the war. He then married and moved out only to die of stomach cancer in Jan ‘46. He continued to work out of the White House though his health began to fail. .
Hopkins managed information flow to FDR in Sept 44 when the Polish rising against the Soviets occur, because of his presence there was no chance FDR would approve aid to the Polish rebels. Soviet Spymaster Akhmerov said Hopkins was the USSR’s greatest asset during the war. A Hopkins aide, named Hyman, scrubbed the Hopkins papers before they were turned over to Sherwood who wrote the definitive 1000 page biography of Hopkins. Sherwood noted that Hopkins would explore all sides of an issue and never disclose his personal leanings. Even his mother said you could never be certain what he was thinking. At college he was called Dirty Harry because of his double dealing.
As to Hopkins’ spying, we know from the Soviet archives opened in ‘92 that Hopkins had anti-communist survalence information from the FBI that he shared with the Soviets.
As for FDR himself he was non-ideological. Looked for practical solutions. But latter in his presidency his concentration waned and he spent more time in stamp collecting and listening to various sea stories. It is interesting that such a person would be elected 4 times and have such a profound effect on America’s understanding of itself.
FDR did believe in “convergence” under which the capitalist west would move toward the socialist east and vis versa. With this in mind FDR arranged to recognize the Soviet Union in 33 in exchange for a promise that they would not engage in subversion. Amb. Bullitt in ‘35 told FDR the Soviets would break any agreement. Bullitt documented many violations in the first 24 months following recognition.
Krauchenko a Soviet leader defected in 3/44. He was shocked at how throughly the Soviet line had been swallowed by the West particularly the USA. He was stunned that the Katyn Forrest massecre of 22,000 Polish leaders story had not gotten out. In fact this killing of Polish officers by the USSR was not acknowledged by the US until ‘51. A Brutish diplomat named O’Malley wrote a report in ‘43 which proves the massacre was done by the Soviets. Many journalists of the 43 to 45 period referred to the White House as “pink”. Former Gov Earle of Pennsylvania served in the diplomatic corps during WWII. He felt long term the Soviet menace was greater than the German.
About Gulag and POW camps. – Solzhenitsyn said you can’t work with the Soviets without becoming corrupt and the true horror of the Soviet system doesn’t come through in statistics, it only becomes clear the stories of some individuals. This is why he wrote One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich. Because of his fame, he was allowed to leave the Soviet Union in ‘74.
About this time, the USSR was sponsoring kidnapping, robberies, bombings in the third world to creat openings for their subversion. The west did not really cover these antics because there was a pro-socialist, pro-collectivist attitude among western journalists. Because of this slant to the left, the White House refused to honor Solzhenitsyn. Clair Sterling, a journalist, at the time said she felt dirty when she had to write something negative about the USSR.
FDR, in ‘43 at Tehran, said all allied countries were serving their populations as those populations wished to be served. Soviet citizens were outraged. After the war over two million Soviet citizens who had struggled to get to the west were forced to return to the USSR. And as many as 20000 US and 20000 UK POWs who were taken by the Soviets were never allowed to return home. Individual preference was to be ignored under the Tehran protocol.
During the war all State Dept officials not favorable to the USSR were assigned to inconsequential jobs by Hopkins and Hiss were they could not comment on anything to do with Soviet goings on. Gov Earle being a personal friend of FDR (both having been former Northeastern governors) was a lonely exception.
About D-Day. Churchill wanted to attack Germany from the South not the west. Stalin wanted the second front to come through France from the west. The UK – US alliance had had success in North Africa and then up through Italy. Gen Arnold felt with his air assets the Italian push could go right up into Austria etc.
A Soviet defector, named Suvorov, felt Stalin had tricked the Germans into invading Poland by promising a division of the spoils in Eastern Europe and that Stalin felt he should still get his “share of the spoils” even though Germany was going down to defeat. That meant the Soviets (not the UK-US army) would have to occupy the nations of Eastern and central Europe. Of course, that’s what happened.
Rep Martin Dies, Gen Wedemeyer, Gen Clark, and Amb Bullitt all felt we won the war but lost the peace as Soviet control settled over all the countries from the Baltic to the Adriatic. They could not speak up without being called “Red Baiters”….
One key policy that played into Stalin’s hands was the policy of unconditional surrender…. the other was the success of Soviet agent in Tokyo who got the general staff there to re-direct their thinking away from an attack against the USSR in its far east and instead get the Japanese general staff to focus on the US , this even though Adm Yamamoto told them they could not defeat the US.
The policy of unconditional surrender meant Germany would fight longer and this would allow the USSR to occupy more territory before surrender occurred. The Japanese decision to attack Pearl Harbor was momentous. It brought the US into the conflict and it spared the USSR a second front.
Just before Pearl Harbor, US Ambassador Grew in Tokyo was trying to work something out with Japan, but he ran into repeated difficulty with the US State Dept. where Laughlin Currie, a soviet spy, was handling the other end of his communications with Washington.
Early in the war Lend Lease was a problem. Planes which might have saved the Phillippines and Singapore were redirected to the Soviet Union. Gen MacArthur in the end pleaded to get just three planes so he could have eyes in the sky over Corregidor but was denied. Just a few fighters at Singapore might have saved to large British warships which were there with no air cover when the Japanese came. FDR directed that the term “Lend Lease” and the nation of “USSR” were never to used tegether in any public release. The American people were to believe it was for the British.
Cardinal Spellman visited FDR in Sept 43 He reported FDR was already accepting Soviet domination of Central/Eastern Europe. (In Sept 43 the Soviet Army was entirely in Russia. ) FDR thought after 20 years of “convergence” would occur and these economies would become 60% capitalist and 40% government controlled.
By the Tehran conference in Dec ‘43, FDR was totally dependent on Hopkins. Here they discussed a second front. Churchill wanted it to come from the south into Central Europe, Russia, intending to occupy those areas, wanted the second front through France preferably across the Channel, but Southern France was also acceptable. Hopkins had FDR’s ear and arranged for it to come across the Channel. Shortly thereafter Hopkins moved out of the White House with a new wife and daughter to digs in Georgetown, then he became ill and had a seven month condolences. All these factors help to confirm the fact that Hopkins is the famous “Agent 19″ in the Venona intercepts and in the soviet archive opened in 1992.
Here we turn to the German attempts to make peace, the German internal resistance, the idea of unconditional surrender, the Morgenthau Plan, and more on Operation Snow. A review of each is in order.
Adm Cannaris the head of German intelligence realized very early that the German cause was lost. He contacted the British about a deal in ‘42 but with no response. He finally reached out to Gov Earle who was then stationed in Turkey and asked him to help. Earle had difficulty getting a message through to FDR but finally managed it. The answer was “no interest” and don’t talk about it. Cannaris then made an attempt through the Vatican but the American (Monde) who brought that message back from the Vatican was “disbelieved” by a Hopkins flunkies and had his passport pulled so he could not travel again.
The German resistance was large and was the only resistance movement in Europe that received no support from the Allies. In fact when an AP reporter discovered indications of such a resistance effort and then wrote an article. However, the OWI spiked the article. Following that FDR issued an order forbidding any mention of any German resistance effort. Thereafter all Germans were bad.
The term “Unconditional Surrender” first appeared in a May 42 committee report. This committee included 5 known communists including Hiss and White. The term next appears as official policy at Casablanca where first Hopkins and a few days later FDR use it. Gen Wedemeyer said that term hardened German resolve and required that all territory be physically taken (exactly what the Soviets wanted to happen).
Operation Snow was the Soviet’s successful attempt to get the Japanese to expend their energies in Southeast Asia and the Pacific rather than in the USSR’s Pacific region. Obviously if Japan was going to aid its ally Germany opening a second front against Russia made the most sense; while attacking the US at Pearl Harbor and in the Philippines made the least sense because it brings the US into the War, but the Soviets succeeded with this deception.
Here Yalta agreements and the problems of the USSR holding American citizens is reviewed. (Pres. Harding had had problems getting Americans out of Russia in 1921. Only by withholding humanitarian aid did he move Lenin to relent. )
At Yalta in ‘45 Americans wanted the right to send search and rescue teams to locations were Americans might have been held. USSR refused saying the problem “does not exist”. Additionally, at Yalta the creation of the UN was decided but FDR by carefully wording his statement to Congress did not reveal that Russia would get three votes for America’s one vote. Actually FDR was basically incapacitated by then and Hopkins was really calling the shots.
Americans who did get out of Eastern Europe were instructed not to speak about the Soviet treatment of the locals or themselves. Finally in 1985 a carefully edited version of the Yalta minutes were actually released.
Meantime the USSR was staging coup after coup in the various occupied countries putting in Communist “stooges”. Gov. Earle was about to go public with a complaint about Soviet behavior when FDR had him sent to American Samoa to get him out of the way.
At the end of hostilities the US and Britain actually controlled the area around Berlin but Ike had been told that the Russian sector of Germany would contain Berlin so he waited and let the Russian army occupy the Germany capital. Even the actual news of the unconditional surrender of Germany had to wait an extra day became the USSR wanted to release the news.
It was suspected that there were about 40,000 US and British troops in various eastern German areas at the end of the war most of these were never released by the Soviets. Verification of this suspicion came in the early 1990’s when Soviet archives and the Venona intercepts were made public. There had been sporadic reports of Americans in Soviet prisons over the years mostly being forced to repair Lend Lease equipment (e.g. lathes, trucks, jeeps, etc.)
Here the author points out the similarities between Soviet ideology, Nazi Ideology, and Islamic ideology. In all three the leaders use the ideology to subjugated the individual to the wishes of the leader(s) or state.
Ms Black doesn’t feel America will ever go as far as Germany, Russia, or the Islamic countries have gone regulating their people; however she is surprised by how far the gov’t Socialism and its accompanying controls have gone in America. (FDR’s had hoped for a “convergence” percentage of 60% private control of the economy. Today, depending upon which state one lives in, the percentage under private control is much lower generally in the 50% to 40% range when one considers regulations and taxes. )
The Obama administration placed Aimen Nabi Mir, formertwo-time president of the youth wing of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), into the top advisory position to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), a national security post at the Treasury Department.
Aimen Mir was the CFIUS Staff Chairperson from 2009 until 2014. During that time, Aimen Mir played a key role in the CFIUS panel’s decision to approve the sale of Uranium One to Russia’s Rosatom. Mir also played a key role in the Treasury Department’s refusal to investigate the UAE’s Gulftainer 35-year cargo container terminal lease at Port Canaveral, a critical military infrastructure facility for U.S. naval and space operations. Both decisions severely damaged United States national security.
Aimen Mir helped set the table for Vladimir Putin to seize control of over 20 percent of U.S. uranium and was part of the decision that awarded control of Port Canaveral’s cargo container terminal to Saddam Hussein’s rogue nuclear weapons scientist and designated Iraq War enemy combatant, Dr. Jafar Dhia Jafar. Dr. Jafar’s brother and business partner, Gulftainer co-owner Hamid Jafar, was under investigation by the Treasury Department and four congressional committees for his ‘Oil For Superweapons” scheme in concert with Saddam Hussein.
Like his father’s ISI partner Fai, Aimen Mir appears to have been running his own operation at CFIUS.
Aimen Mir was the CFIUS Staff Chairperson from 2009 until 2014. During Mir’s five years in the staff chairperson’s seat, CFIUS approved Russia’s 2010 purchase of Uranium One, effectively handing Vladimir Putin control of 20 percent of America’s uranium. Also during Mir’s term, the Treasury Department refused to conduct two legally-required CFIUS investigations of Port Canaveral’s 2014 container terminal lease concession to the UAE’s Gulftainer.
The Gulftainer deal effectively placed Saddam Hussein’s nuclear weapons mastermind, Dr. Jafar Dhia Jafar, along with his longtime Russian KGB/SVR and Iranian regime associates and a UAE Emir inside the wire of a national-security sensitive U.S. port. Gulftainer misrepresented its true ownership; facts that Mir could and should have uncovered easily.
A World Bank International Finance Corporation (IFC) document (now scrubbed from the IFC website) proved that Gulftainer was owned in part by Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, the Emir of Sharjah, UAE. Under the Foreign Investment National Security Act of 2007 (FINSA), foreign government ownership of an acquiring entity automatically triggers a mandatory CFIUS review, regardless of whether the transaction is a purchase or a lease. Aimen Mir understood CFIUS and FINSA law and chose to ignore it, as did Treasury Secretary Jacob ‘Jack’ Lew and Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker.
In 2014 the Treasury Department promoted Aimen Mir to Deputy Assistant Secretary for Investment Security after the Clinton Foundation-connected Uranium One and Gulftainer Port Canaveral deals closed. Mir’s LinkedIn profile and post-Trump administration inauguration posts show he’s still at the Treasury Department, now as a career civil servant.
In Gulftainer’s case, the supposedly-rigorous CFIUS national security review process for direct foreign investment transactions was completely and stunningly bypassed. An email released by Wikileaks implicates Gulftainer and the Clintons in a pay-to-play operation involving the Port Canaveral deal.
Both Uranium One and Gulftainer have deep ties to Russian intelligence, nuclear weapons, and uranium enrichment. Gulftainer has additional ties to the Iranian regime and to the architects of Obama’s Iran Nuclear Deal.
Gulftainer executive board chairman Badr Jafar visited the White House in 2014, six weeks before the secretly-negotiated Gulftainer deal was announced, signed, and closed.
According to Aimen Mir’s LinkedIn profile, since graduating from Georgetown in 2000, he never served in any national security position before his CIFIUS chairperson appointment. Mir’s work experience was as an immigration attorney at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP (WilmerHale) representing people from the Middle East seeking asylum in the United States.
CFIUS staff members such as staff chairperson Mir wield tremendous power in the CFIUS process workflow. They conduct research and make recommendations to cabinet-level CFIUS board members or their designated representatives and, through omission, can conceal from those Cabinet members critical national security information about foreign companies looking to invest in U.S.-based operations.
If a CFIUS application is approved before advancing from the 30-day initial review to an additional 45-day investigation involving 16 U.S. intelligence agencies, dangerous deals like Uranium One and Gulftainer deals can fly under the radar of the intelligence community.
According to a 2015 Breitbart report on CFIUS review of the Uranium One deal, “surprisingly the 2009 Annual Report submitted to Congress by CFIUS inaccurately described this approved transaction by stating the company acquiring a minority interest was Canadian rather than Russian.” Breitbart contacted Aimen Mir at the time of that report to ask him if the Uranium One transaction was subjected to a secondary 45-day review but received no response.
The Committee of Foreign Investment in the United States 2015 Annual Report to Congress Public/Unclassified Version, released over a year late, reveals that between 2013 and 2015, there were no covered transactions in the transportation sector involving acquirers from the UAE. In other words, the Treasury Department determined that the Gulftainer deal was not a ‘covered transaction’ and therefore CFIUS did not conduct the required investigation of the deal. That determination was likely made by Aimen Mir and it kept Gulftainer and U.S.- designated enemy combatant Dr. Jafar off the intelligence community’s radar.
The Treasury Department determined that a CFIUS review was not required for Gulftainer’s Port Canaveral deal, according to a 2015 Orlando Sentinel report:
“Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-San Diego, had asked for a formal Treasury Department review of security issues due to a foreign-owned company operating port facilities.
Port spokeswoman Rosalind Harvey said that never happened. “After extensive filing of all required paperwork to U.S. Treasury Department officials, the panel found that no review was required because the agreement was a lease and not a purchase of Port assets,” Harvey said.”
Unfortunately, there is more.
James Rickards, author and former advisor to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) Support Group of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), stated in an October 18, 2017 tweet that Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper “disbanded” the CFIUS DNI advisory group “before Uranium One.”
It is noteworthy that Director Clapper went before Congress to testify under oath that the NSA, CIA, and other intelligence agencies were not collecting massive amounts of telephonic and Internet metadata on hundreds of millions of innocent American citizens. Revelations by Whistleblower Edward Snowden proved otherwise.
Subsequently Director Clapper was found to have been untruthful and resigned on November 17, 2016, effective the day Donald Trump was sworn in, January 20, 2017. Clapper has not been prosecuted for perjury.
CFIUS rules are clear about what constitutes a ‘covered transaction’:
Considering the post-9/11 national meltdown over the UAE’s Dubai Ports World deal, it is inconceivable that the Gulftainer deal would have received approval without a thorough intelligence review. The Congressional enactment of the Foreign Investment National Security Act of 2007 (FINSA) was designed to heavily reinforce CFIUS in order to prevent a repeat of Dubai Ports world debacle.
The Gulftainer (GT USA) Port Canaveral 35-year concession is subject to CFIUS review because:
Gulftainer is responsible for safety and security and makes all substantial business decisions at the Canaveral cargo terminal;
Gulftainer oversees day-to-day operation of the Canaveral cargo terminal;
Port Canaveral is critical infrastructure for commercial maritime, military sealift, surface naval, submarine naval, commercial space, and military space operations;
Gulftainer’s cargo terminal is near four military bases: Two USAF, one USN, and one USCG;
Gulftainer’s cargo terminal is near NASA’s Kennedy Space Center;
Gulftainer’s cargo terminal is near the Eastern Range, critical for space missions and missile testing;
Gulftainer is partly-owned by a foreign government (Ruler of Sharjah, UAE), Iraqis involved in WMD production (Jafar family), possibly other “senior Iraqi military figures,” and in business with Russian Specially Designated Nationals (SDNs).
It is unclear how Aimen Mir was able to obtain a security clearance.
Former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper testified today on Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election.
The Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism held a hearing on Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. elections. Former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates and Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper testified. Ms. Yates spoke about two late January 2017 meetings she had with the White House general counsel about certain behavior of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, and her concerns that Gen. Flynn had become the subject of potential blackmail by Russia. She also explained her conclusion that President Trump’s executive order on immigration and refugees was unlawful; she was fired as acting attorney general for refusing to enforce the order.
First, highlights from around the web.
Trump tweeted prior to hearings:
Ask Sally Yates, under oath, if she knows how classified information got into the newspapers soon after she explained it to W.H. Counsel.

Sally Yates Opening Statements
“We weren’t the only ones that knew all of this… the Russians also knew about what General Flynn had done, and the Russians also knew that General Flynn had misled the vice president and others… Not only did we believe that the Russians knew this, but that they likely had proof of this information, and that created a compromise situation––a situation where the national security advisor essentially could be blackmailed by the Russians.”
Lindsey Graham Grills Sally Yates At Senate Hearing
Senator Lindsey Graham took a thinly-veiled shot at President Donald Trump during his opening remarks at the Sally Yates congressional hearing on Monday.
‘From my point of view, there’s no doubt in my mind it was the Russians involved in all the things I just described — not some 400-pound guy sitting on a bed, or any other country,” Graham said.
The weight phrase is a reference to a line Mr. Trump gave at the first presidential debate in September 2016 to counter Hillary Clinton: “[Clinton is] saying Russia, Russia, Russia. Maybe, it was. It could also be China. It could be someone sitting on their bed that weighs 400 pounds.”
The South Carolina senator had just outlined that “the intelligence community unanimously said that the Russians, through their intelligence services, tried to interfere in the 2016 American presidential election — that it was the Russians who hacked [John] Podesta’s e-mails; it was the Russians who broke into the Democratic National Committee; it was Russians who helped empower Wikileaks.”
Senator Graham later underlined that “Russia is up to no good when it comes to democracies all over the world.” He added that “it could be our campaigns next” — a reference to the upcoming congressional elections in 2018.
Chuck Grassley GRILLS James Clapper & Sally Yates On Unmasking
Former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates spoke publicly in her testimony to the Senate about what she spoke to White House Counsel Don McGahn regarding National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.
She said she had spoken with McGahn because she was aware of comments that had been made by Vice President Mike Pence and others about what Flynn said in his call with the Russian ambassador that “we knew not to be the truth.”
Yates spoke about Flynn’s “problematic” conduct and confirmed a report from back in February that she warned the White House Flynn was vulnerable to Russian blackmail: “We weren’t the only ones that knew all of this… the Russians also knew about what General Flynn had done, and the Russians also knew that General Flynn had misled the vice president and others… Not only did we believe that the Russians knew this, but that they likely had proof of this information, and that created a compromise situation––a situation where the national security advisor essentially could be blackmailed by the Russians.”
Yates recalled that McGahn had asked if Flynn should be fired and she said she responded that wasn’t her call.
Ted Cruz Grills Sally Yates For Refusing To Defend Travel ban Executive Order
Ted Cruz and former acting Attorney General Sally Yates squared off in a testy showdown over President Donald Trump‘s proposed travel ban — which, in its original form, proposed a ban on travel to the U.S. from seven Muslim-majority countries.
Yates was fired by Trump after refusing to implement the ban, which was eventually ruled to be unconstitutional by a Federal Circuit Court.
The Texas senator, in his allotted time for questioning at Monday’s Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing about interference in the 2016 election, pressed Yates on the ban. He asked if she was familiar with 8 U.S.C. 1182. Yates said she wasn’t.“Well, it is the binding statutory authority for the executive order that you refused to implement and that led to your termination,” Cruz said. “So it certainly is a relevant and not a terribly obscure statute.”
Cruz then proceeded to quote from the statute: Whenever the President finds that the entry of any alien or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interest of the United States, he may by proclamation and for such period as he shall deem necessary suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or non-immigrants or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem appropriate.
“Would you agree that that is broad statutory authorization?” Cruz asked.
Yates wasted no time with her response: “I would, and I am familiar with that, and I’m also familiar with an additional provision of the INA that says ‘no person shall receive preference or be discriminated against in issuance of a visa because of race, nationality or place of birth.’ That, I believe, was promulgated after the statute that you just quoted. And that’s been part of the discussion with the courts with respect to the INA is whether this more specific statute trumps the first one that you just described. But my concern was not an INA concern here. It rather was a Constitutional concern, whether or not the executive order here violated the Constitution specifically with the establishment clause and equal protection and due process.”
The coverage of the economic disaster in Greece, a strategic NATO country, has mostly ignored the role of Vladimir Putin’s Russia in the growing global turmoil.
Reports continue to circulate that a new European Union (EU) bailout deal with Greece is possible, as Yanis Varoufakis, a self-described “erratic Marxist,” has resigned as finance minister. But these developments appear to be for the purpose of diverting attention away from the fact that Greece has already become, in effect, a satellite of Moscow.
The Greek regime is a Moscow-backed left-right coalition led by Alexis Tsipras, the pro-Marxist and pro-Russia head of Greece’s “Coalition of the Radical Left.” Tsipras, who presented himself as a moderate when he spoke at the Brookings Institution on January 22, 2013, was a member of the youth wing of the Greek Communist Party, the KKE.
The political party known as ANEL (The Independent Greeks) is supposed to be a “conservative” party in the ruling government and yet it is pro-Russian. This reflects Putin’s cultivation of right-wing forces throughout Europe and even in America.
Back from a recent visit to Russia, Tsipras is now counting on cheaper gas and increased Russian investment from Moscow. The prospect of Russian military bases in NATO territory—Greece—cannot be ruled out at this point.
Tsipras previously signed a memorandum that is designed to make 2016 into the “Year of Greece-Russia relations.”
After his coalition won the elections in January, Tsipras received a congratulatory call from President Obama. The two leaders “reviewed close cooperation between Greece and the United States on issues of European security and counterterrorism,” the White House reported.
That alleged “close cooperation” has been replaced by a Greek deal with Moscow.
It seems like just another foreign policy disaster under President Obama, except in this case the stakes are huge. NATO notes that “Greece is strategically located in the Southern region of the Alliance, in close vicinity to South Eastern Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East and North Africa.”
But other than expressing a vague hope that European leaders would devise a plan to allow Greece “to return to growth and debt sustainability within the Eurozone,” Obama has been AWOL on the crisis, leaving it mostly in the hands of German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The subject of reports and even a book suggesting she is a Russian agent, Merkel knows full well that Tsipras and Putin have been undermining the NATO alliance at a time when the West fears a Russian invasion of another former Soviet republic.
For example, in the report, “Stop Putin’s Next Invasion Before It Starts,” Terrence K. Kelly of the Rand Corporation argues that “The United States needs to seriously consider stationing forces in Eastern Europe to support the nation’s commitment to protect the independence of the Baltic republics of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania—NATO members all—against the specter of Russian aggression.”
Some news organizations have alluded to Russia’s role in the current crisis. “Russian President Vladimir Putin feted Tsipras in St. Petersburg last month as bailout negotiations took place in Brussels,” noted Michael Birnbaum and Griff Witte in The Washington Post.
During that meeting Tsipras discussed energy and the “Greek Stream” gas pipeline project with Russian Gazprom chief Alexei Miller during a meeting in St. Petersburg. In fact, Russia and Greece signed a deal to construct a Turkish pipeline across Greek territory. Tsipras also met with representatives of the new development bank for BRICS countries, referring to Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, “who expressed their intense interest in cooperating with Greece,” one report noted.
“Russia has its eye on Athens, trying to break European unity to put an end to economic sanctions imposed over its actions in Ukraine,” Birnbaum and Witte noted in the Post.
But the situation is far more serious than the Post lets on. Syriza’s 40-point program includes undermining NATO, the global battle against Islamic terrorism, and Israel:
Closure of all foreign bases in Greece and withdrawal from NATO.
Withdrawal of Greek troops from Afghanistan and the Balkans. No Greek soldiers beyond our own borders.
Drastically cut military expenditures.
Abolition of military cooperation with Israel. Support for creation of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders.
Syriza, a Greek political party, is a member of The European Left (EL). Member Parties of the EL are described as “socialist, communist, red-green and other democratic left parties of the member states and associated states of the European Union (EU) that work together and establish various forms of co-operation at all levels of political activity in Europe, based on the agreements, basic principles and political aims laid down in the EL Manifesto.” The chairperson of EL is Pierre Laurent of the French Communist Party. Tsipras is the Vice-Chairperson.
In addition to the support from these international Marxist political parties and groups, Tsipras met with the leftist Pope Francis on September 19, 2014. Tsipras said, “We pleaded with him to continue struggling against poverty and to speak in behalf of the dignity of humans as well as the structural causes behind poverty which are the inequality in the distribution of wealth and the rampant behavior of the financial markets. …we agreed that the dialogue between the Left and the Christian Church must go on. We may have different ideological starting points; however, we converge on common values, like solidarity, love for the fellow human being, social justice, and our concern regarding world peace.”
“For the first time ever the head of the Catholic Church will meet a leader of the radical Left,” is how Tsipras described the meeting with the pope at his “Change Europe” website.
In their book, EUSSR, Vladimir Bukovsky and Pavel Stroilov argued that the European Union was itself a project of the old Soviet Union, and that the EU has always been subject to manipulation by Moscow and its agents. Based on this analysis, what’s happening in Greece is part of a process of pulling Europe as a whole to the left and away from the United States.
The eventual goal, some observers say, is the removal of the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency, a development that would strike a mortal blow to the global capitalist system.
