It was hot as blazes in Crawford, Texas in August of 2005.

I was in Crawford, Texas to meet up with Deborah Johns’ Marine Moms caravan from California. We were there to provide a counterpoint to Cindy Sheehan’s Camp Casey protest.

More than 3,500 people showed up in downtown Crawford to speak out against Cindy Sheehan and to honor of our soldiers serving in Iraqi Freedom. A friend and I took a drive out to Prairie Chapel to see what was going on.

Right_Side_News_The_Right_News_for_AmericansCamp Casey had a new large white tent and catering but there were only about 150 people present. It seemed a third of these were news reporters. Back at the Marine Moms’ gathering, the Crawford Fire Department served barbecue to throngs of people. I got back to Dallas that evening and turned on the 10 p.m. news to see how the event was covered.

The Camp Casey protest received plenty of coverage, yet there was no mention of the Marine Moms. It was clear to me that the objective of the journalists present was not accurate reporting or they would have covered the more than 3,500 people who had gathered to support our troops.

I returned home determined to challenge the Left’s stranglehold on slanted and inaccurate reporting.

During this period, I re-connected with Jeff Bayard, an old childhood friend who was also struggling to find fair and accurate reporting about the news of the day. Jeff received the encouragement he needed to get started, and Right Side News was born in July 2007.

Many have helped out along the way, but now we are confronted with another pivotal moment. In just a few months, the United States will decide between capitalism and socialism. We know that the socialists can only support their campaigns by ignoring the results of their actions and telling a story different from fact.

Like Jeff, I do this because I believe Americans deserve accurate and honest reporting, not socialist spin. Please help us to stay in the fight by making your most generous donation of $100, $50, $35, $25, $12 or even just $5. Our website and the information we provide is free to you, but it is not free to us. Our monthly operating costs are $500; that covers our dedicated server, our daily email newsletters and the steady support of our dedicated webmaster.

Neither Jeff or I take salaries, and our small, dedicated staff works heroic hours for very modest pay.

Advertising once covered about 70% of our operating expenses, but ad revenues are rapidly falling across the entire Internet. If our readers and supporters don’t step in to help us close the gap we will be forced to close our doors.

In the current economic circumstances, we understand how difficult it is just to make ends meet, and we appreciate your generosity.

So far, with help from our generous readers, we have managed to continue our original news and reporting.

If you haven’t pitched in to help yet, please consider it now—even $5 or $10 counts toward what we need. The volume of donations say a great deal to the world about why the investigative reporting Right Side News performs matters. We are two weeks into our annual fundraising campaign and we’ve raised just $900.00 to date.

Also, if there are others that you know who would value the independent and accurate reporting that Right Side News does and who might consider a gift, please take a moment to forward this to them. Your endorsement is very powerful.

To keep Right Side News going at strength, to build on our legacy of impact and influence, to make certain that fair and accurate reporting prevails, we need your support. I am grateful to those who have already contributed, and look forward to hearing from those who have yet to do so.

Sincerely,
