Border Patrol nets more than 20 tons of drugs; 64% Say US-Mexico Border is Not Secure

LOS MOCHIS, SINALOA Municipal police leaving the station were attacked by gunmen, leaving one officer dead and another wounded. Property damage occurred to local businesses, homes, vehicles and a school, which excused classes for the day.
GUADALUPE, NUEVO LEÓN Five cartel lookouts captured when van they were driving was observed to have bullet holes. When arrested, they were giving information then to the cartel via Nextel. It noted the van smelled as if it had been carrying corpses.
LINARES, NUEVO LEÓN Municipal clerk kidnapped. Kidnappers left his wife, who walked for help.
ACAPULCO, GUERRERO Unidentified head of a man left on street.
MONTEMORELOS, NUEVO LEÓN Twelve members of the Gulf cartel were captured at a narco rancho south of Monterrey while sleeping. Military intelligence had located the ranch, and yesterday, the Army team walked 5 miles at night to the ranch in order to surprise them. The capture was without a shot fired. Among those captured was ‘El Choche’, leader of a Gulf cartel cell dedicated to killing their primary rival, Los Zetas, especially in the municipalities of Montemorelos, General Terán and Allend. Seized were 5 guns, two hand grenades, four 40 mm caliber shells, boots, cartridges, radio equipment, tactical equipment and four vehicles.

DURANGO, DURANGO The commander of criminal investigations of the state was attacked late Thursday at the official facilities. He and several other officers were wounded in the attack. He was the most serious and was rushed into surgery. Shortly, a cartel hit man entered the OR and finished killing him. It notes the assassins didn’t mind the 20 state police present, because they were better armed and there were more bad guys than good guys.
BALLEZA, CHIHUAHUA Former mayor, Silvia Moreno Leal, was executed at a funeral for an assassinated man. The wife of another former mayor died with her, and another former mayor’s wife was gravely wounded. In 1988, Moreno Leal’s husband, a PRI candidate for mayor, was attacked and killed. She substituted and won by a majority vote. In January, 2010, the son of the new mayor was killed by gunmen. During the funeral for him, the nephew of the municipal police commander was then executed.
