Part One: An Overview of American Islam Luckily, that America is fictional, one vividly described in Robert Ferrigno's 2006 futuristic novel, Prayers for the Assassin, set in 2040. But is it really so hard to imagine, in a world in which a man named "Barack Hussein Obama" can get elected President just a few years after Muslim hijackers destroyed the world's tallest buildings in the heart of New York City? Today many Americans are either blissfully ignorant of, or simply indifferent to, the slow, incremental growth of radical Islam in their midst. We sometimes hear about terrorist cells or suspicious Muslim "compounds" on the news. However, these stories represent merely the tip of an Islamic iceberg that could very well doom America. Not today or tomorrow. But in our lifetimes? That is a real possibility. And don't shrug off Islam as "just another religion." Muslim sharia law deems women to be inferior to men, and allows husbands to "lightly" beat their wives. Polygamy and child bride marriage are condoned and encouraged, due to the example of Mohammed himself, whose many wives included a nine year old. Anti-Semitism and slavery are enshrined in the Koran, as is exploitation of and even violence against all "unbelievers." Radical Muslims have learned they don't require bombs or hijacked airliners to destroy America. They can just use America's own ideological infrastructure against itself. Using a kind of ingenious political jujitsu, radical Muslims rely upon everything from the rights to freedom of speech and worship enshrined in the U.S. Constitution to the current atmosphere of hypersensitive political correctness to push their agenda. For example, the "Islamification" of the educational system is now underway. Textbooks whitewash Islam's bloody history. Public school children forbidden to pray or recite the Pledge of Allegiance are, however, obliged to play "Muslim for a Day." Meanwhile, universities eagerly introduce footbaths, Muslim prayer rooms and hallal cafeteria food. Increasingly, Muslim employees are suing companies for the "right" to refuse to handle "unclean" pork or alcohol, or the "right" to wear headscarves. It is no coincidence that these companies include household names like UPS, Wal-Mart and McDonalds's - radical Muslims are sending a message to smaller firms who won't have the means to fight similar suits in the future. These demands for accommodation extend even behind prison walls, where Muslim prisoners (indoctrinated by Muslim chaplains trained by foreign extremists) insist on getting special treatment as well. "Lawfare" is on the rise, too. Muslim groups now file expensive, time-consuming lawsuits against critics of Islam, and while these suits are currently confined mostly to Canada and Europe, they have a "chilling" effect on American publishers, writers, journalists and filmmakers. Last year, it only took a couple of threatening emails to persuade a major U.S. publisher to cancel an upcoming novel about Mohammed. Few Americans realize that their neighborhood mosque was probably built and financed by well-heeled terrorist sympathizers abroad. In fact, 80% of American mosques are Saudi-supported, and serve as safe gathering places for radical imams and dubious "charities" with anti-American agendas. Islamic terrorism has also found a home on the internet, where (according to one UK think tank) a "virtual caliphate" (or Muslim supremacist empire) thrives, beyond the reach of authorities. The web has become an invaluable arena for radical Muslim recruiting, training, communication and organizing. Americans looking to the government to protect them from these threats don't realize that federal agencies in the thrall of political correctness actually undermine the war of terrorism. Few Muslims currently hold public office in the United States, but this may change if Democrats begin to view them as a new source of donations and votes. Over the next few months, I'll be your guide to the growth of radical Islam, both at home and abroad. You'll learn about "moderate" Muslim spokesmen who turn out to be anything but, and meet writers and authors censored by their governments for critiquing the Koran. I'll be talking to experts in the fields of intelligence, religion, crime and foreign policy and sharing their insights with you. Many Americans have already forgotten what happened on 9/11, or simply don't want to think about it anymore. Our fear, disgust or indifference is exactly what radical Muslims are counting on. As exhausting and demoralizing as it can be to educate ourselves on the facts, we must remember that "the price of freedom is eternal vigilance." To call these people jihadis is a compliment as jihad is the struggle to be better. The proper word for what they do is hirabah. It means to wage war on women, children and other non-combatants or piracy. According to the koran it is wrong and not to be done. Calling them jihadis is just another subtle way that we help them recruit

Jihad is the word these belligerents use themselves. Don't criticize a "dumb" infidel like me for using the word they use themselves -- criticize them for "hijacking" your religion. If Islam is so wonderful and peaceful, no article written by someone like me could ever help "recruit" terrorists. No, they are recruited by their fellow Muslims, not by anything I choose to write. Stop doing the typical Muslim thing and blaming everyone but yourself for the problems in Arab/Muslim culture.

Even close friends, who I discuss this issue repeatedly with, discount the Islamic threat. They turn a blind eye to issues of womens rights and freedom of speech because THEY ARE AFRAID.
They are rightly afraid of these dangerous thugs who wrap themselves in a religious disguise, partly because of the 'culture of diversity' that poisions Canada, and also partly because it is human nature to try and ignore something that, even though right in your face, is too horrible to rationally consider. If they actually acknowledged the awful truth of current events, they could not possibly remain silent, no matter the cost. It will take a 'tipping point' event to sway public opinion. Until then, those of us who see the truth of this vile and primative warrior culture, can only point out radical imams who support suicide bombing, terrorists using children, ambulances and hospitals to hide behind, repeated 'ceasefires' that only allow Hamas to rearm and execute dissenters, etc, until the world wakes up and the next crusade begins.

Indeed, it is the central misconception of Americans that Islam is "just another religion". It is in fact an expansionary political/military project hiding behind a veneer of religion. Just look at the religious components: the only a*sured way to heaven (dying while fighting for Islam); the nature of that heaven (a brothel). This is a 'religion' designed for the purpose of raising and motivating an army of young men.

I sure would be glad to see Muslims come out in droves, clamoring to denounce the waging of war on women and children, etc. Unfortunately, we see many either exusing it or positively clamoring in favor of it.
Perhaps some reading of the koran says these things are forbidden, but that book certainly seems adaptable to the purposes of terrorists. Doesn't matter much to me what you call it, but many of its practitioners seem to prefer the term "jihad." Interesting how criticizing or combating terrorism/jihad always leads to more. So what's the alternative? Ignoring it didn't seem to work so well. Anyway, excellent piece by Ms. Shaidle. I find it an admirably succinct guide to some of the salient issues related to the problem of Islamic extremism.

Not sure what world jra is living in. I sure would be glad to see Muslims come out in droves, clamoring to denounce the waging of war on women and children, etc. Unfortunately, we see many positively clamoring in favor of it and vast numbers willing to excuse it. Seriously, how many Muslims have publicly denounced the targeting of Israeli non-combatants? How many advocate consequences for Islamist terrorism as opposed to blaming others (Israel, U.S., the West, capitalism, colonialism) for it?

According to one talking head on CNN today it was all Bush’s fault, for “waging war on Muslims†round the world. Before Bush it was, of course, all sweetness and light. America was not the Great Satan under Carter. Neither emba*sies, the WTC nor the USS Cole were bombed under Clinton. And Muslim fanatics didn’t plot 9/11 till Bush was elected (that is, unless you believe, as does the Dem traitor/nutbar wing, that 9/11 was an inside job.) And one supposes we can now look forward to Iran dropping its nuke ambitions. Fine article, Kathy. I’m looking forward to your next installment.

I recall an interview with a former Kennedy administration official discussing the issue in pessimistic terms about research done a while back. Also... information exists from Great Britain and was alluded to in a forum from the Fraser Institute in Montreal on Immigration this past summer. That forum is on the Canadian CPAC channel ... Sorry, don't have the references for you, but there is information out there.... I know,,, surprised the heck out of me too!

Ridemedic, a lot of people say it will take a catastrophic event to change people's opinion. But we've already had one and it didn't do the trick. However, if all of us take this information into our small circle of influence and think of it as a long campaign of a year or so to make sure all our friends and families understand what Islamic supremacism really is, then we wouldn't need a catastrophic event, and if one DID occur, many more people would see it in a new light.

JRA implies that jihad means struggle. But what does that mean? Bill Warner of CSPI.com has done something interesting: He counted up all the references to jihad in the hadith. Here's what he found:
"The Hadith of Bukhari gives all of the tactical details of jihad. A simple counting method shows that 3% of the hadiths are about the inner struggle, whereas, 97% of the hadiths are about jihad as war. So is jihad the inner struggle? Yes, 3%. Is jihad the war against kafirs? Yes, 97%."

The single biggest t hreat to a free and democratic west is Political Islam, it's soldiers are not violent they use our laws and the liberal left to impose their sense of superiority on non-Muslims. We've already surrendered to the Political Islamists, when we allow foot baths in our public places we are imposing Sharia Law on all who enters those rest rooms. There are no foot baths in Islamic Nations, yet we allow them to show superiorty over the rest of us by paying to Islamify our public places. We allow women to walk around in body bags, they are allowed to put society in danger when they drive in said body bags. I don't think we fully realise that we've lost every single battle against the Political Islamists. The only way to stop the Islamification oif the west is to stop allowing Muslims to impose their religion on society, we must firmly tell them they are free to practice there religion in their mosques and homes but society will not bend or bow to Islamic Supremacy. The Political Islamists' aggitators have infected our work places, our hospitals our schools, our public spaces and to date we've allowed them to do so. Freedom of Religion is about individual liberty not altering society to adhere to said religion.

The best way to deal with immigration in general is to immediately deport, without trial or hearing, any immigrant that is arrested for any crime except misdemeanors. No 'rights', no legal protection. Straight onto a plane in handcuffs, and a week later, their entire family. Switzerland was debating this very 'solution' to young immigrant thugs going awry. Had most of Europe followed this route 30 yrs ago, we wouldn't be having any problems with immigrants. Add to that, all applicants for citizenship and any of their sponsored family must speak the official language, fluently, of their host country, before getting citizenship, or after 5 yrs, whichever is sooner.
It's time we expect much more from the people that choose to live here. Zero tolerance for any criminal activity and an enforceable time-line to have them speak our language and integrate into OUR society. Call me a bigot... but those rules most likely would apply to us if we emigrated to THEIR country.

It is obvious that you are a Muslim using the usual deception here. Kathy has done her research, thousands of others too including myself. Islam has nothing to do with peace but a lot to do with hate. Just look to Europe, where it is already too late. This is the truth and YOU need to check it up yourself.

This is completely, 100% false. That women are innately inferior to men is stated multiple times in the Qur'an. In one part that is explicitly stated as true because Allah made it so. In another portion of the Qur'an, Allah commands that a woman must have sex with her husband whenever she feels like it. If she refuses, the husband is permitted to scold her. If she still refuses, the husband is permitted to punish her by sleeping in a different bed. If she still refuses, Allah grants the husband permission to lightly beat her. The "lightly" part is left off in most translations. "What is true is that many men in Islam use their religion as a means of justifying inhuman, sexist and abusive behaviour" True. Though Muslim men do not have to "use" their religion to justify it. Islam explicitly endorses it. "whereas Islam preaches women are to be treated gently and respectfully." As long as they do whatever their husband/father tells them to, when they tell them to, without asking any pesky questions. And as long as they don't do anything, such as leave the house, without their husbands permission. These are not sentiments radical Islamists make up to justify their sexist behavior. They are explicitly stated in the Qur'an as the commandments of Allah. "These type of do not only occur in Muslim states/Muslims but all races and religions (though the Muslim men disgustingly use their religion to justify their behaviour) - men in Western societies abuse and do the same things. See it with your own eyes." In Islam, women are treated as nothing but sexual objects for men. They're just private sex objects, the personal property of a single man. Kind of like a sex toy. It exists purely for your pleasure, but you don't show it to anyone.

We Muslims are believing in all previous Holly Books ( Torah and Bible),and we did not put any differences between All the previous Messengers of Allah (God), We love them all with the same degree. We believe in Juses Christ as A messenger of Allah as we do the same for the prophet Mosas. Did you Know that the muslim is not consider a muslim if he did not believe in Jesus Christ , Mosas or John,.....etc. He is called unbeliever. So all muslims respect all holly religions because Allah (God) order them to do that. I lived in the United States of America with my wife which put a head cover, we went to Lubbock Islamic Center, Pray there, Fast Ramadan Month, and Spent The Two Muslim Feast and Sacrifice with lamp in Eid Aladha. I want to say We enjoy to do our Islamic things more than we did it in our countries, we enjoy freedom of USA and the people there, they were kind, respectfull and very helpfull. So Islam is not terror thing Islam is the religon of Peace and love. You worship One God (ALLAH) and believe in all prophets from Nooh to Muhammed. Islam is a universal religon. Please Study Islam First, Then tell me about your opinion. You will find it simple and interesting religion.

OK. Great writing ability and content. We live in an America where we aren't allowed to pray to God at anypublic function, and the "cheerleaders" are more and more resembling strippers. Is that the America which is so much better? We have drug, gambling, and sex addictions on a ma*sive scale, every family is broken, and we worry about the next wave of immorality to sweep over our children. I saw a sign the other day that said, "when looking for faults, use a mirror - not a telescope" We've seen the enemy, and the enemy is us. This woman just sounds like a cultural bigot. Her great country has corrupted the whole world! Don't worry ma'am - we will win this battle! Soon the whole world's children will be addicted to drugs and going to strip joints like the people in your country. Haven't you read the Book?

It's sad to think that islam will be able to takeover the US without ever firing a shot and the problem with islam is that it takes kindness for weakness and we have a lot of sympathizers here in the US. Americans have become weak and not willing to put up a fight here at home and they know it so it's almost a joke to move in. Not enough Americans have actually had first hand experience with muslims so they really only know what they hear. THE ONLY MODERATE MUSLIM IS ONE THAT ISN'T MAD YET and that is a fact, and the koran calls for all muslims to stand together and fight when one is in a fight and the koran advocates the use of violence to defend islam and that means verbal threats against islam too. If we don't confront this issue now it will be our children and grandchildren that we leave an even bigger problem to deal with which is irresponsible. I bet there were native americans that thought it would all work out too until the numbers were too strong.
