The United States is facing the greatest crisis in the preservation of government of the people, by the people and for the people since the decades of the 1850s and 1860s.

The failure to think through and implement the necessary reforms of the 1850s led to the bloodiest and most difficult war in American history in the 1860s.

A case can be made that the crises we are drifting into are comparable to the combination of the rise of the dictatorships during the Great Depression of the 1930s. However, the relative scale of the American economy and the underlying strength of American patriotic belief made it likely that the United States would in fact ultimately triumph first over the Nazi Germans, Fascist Italians, and Imperial Japanese and then 50 years later over the Soviet Empire.

cair-violating-its-501c3.jpgCAIR or the Council on American-Islamic Relations was founded, in June of 1994, as part of a Hamas-related quad of groups known as the Palestine Committee.  Since then, CAIR has lost a number of its representatives due to terrorist activity, and it has been named by the U.S. government as a co-conspirator for a Hamas financing trial.

Yet, of the four groups in the committee, CAIR is the only one that still remains in existence, leading to the question: If terrorism won’t bring down CAIR, what will?  The answer may very well be in its status as an American organization – its non-profit tax status.

Khalid Yasin is one of the most notorious Islamic hate sheikhs in the world today. He had been widely condemned from the US to Britain to Australia for his virulent Wahhabist extremism, his intense anti-Americanism (despite the fact that he is an American-born convert), his justification of Islamic terrorism, his wild-eyed conspiracy theories, and his outright racial and religious bigotry. And an Australian news investigation found that Yasin had claimed academic degrees that the schools had no record or, and also discovered that he had engaged in outright fraud in his building his international Islamic media empire.

It is no wonder so many people in our country are unaware of the world-wide threat to civilization posed by Islam and their fanatical followers; the education system has broken down and has been replaced with an Islamic propaganda machine.

As Israelis look towards the future in their celebration of the nation's 60th birthday, some Palestinians cling to the past by commemorating what they call the "Nakba" or "the catastrophe." A faculty panel discussion held at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) last month and titled, "60 Years of Nakba—The Catastrophe of Palestine 1948-2008," was one of many similar lamentations held worldwide.
