President Bush formally labelled the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps this week as terrorists. This could be the predicate for the Bush administration's effort to go after the IRGC while claiming not to be targeting Iran.
In other words, this could be the Bush version of the Johnson administration's efforts to pinpoint bomb North Vietnam without doing any real damage to the communists' war-making capability. We all know how that turned out. What can we expect if the inference we suggest here is correct in the Iraq-Iran theater of battle?

Caroline Glick, JPost August 13th
According to a spate of recent media reports, Iran's economy is on the skids. It works out that aside from being a messianic, genocidal killer, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is also an economic dunce.
Ahmadinejad entered office two years ago after running a populist campaign pledging to share Iran's oil and gas revenues with the Iranian people. As his campaign slogan put it, Ahmadinejad would "put petroleum income on people's tables." But two years into his tenure, the economy is failing.

DEBKAfile: Big US Armed Forces integrated Valiant Shield exercises simulate possible operation against Iran
August 6, 2007, 10:36 PM (GMT+02:00)
DEBKAfiles military sources report: This will be Americas last major combined sea-air war game during Bush presidency which ends in Jan. 2009 and last opportunity for drilling large-scale combined units should the president decide on a military operation against Iran.
To indicate that outside eyes were not desired, foreign observers who attended the Pacific exercises last year were not invited this year. US military sources in the region said that invitations to officers of regional nations to watch the drills would have had to include Malaysia, which has close ties with Iran.
