You're absolutely right, Mr. Driessen. Unfortunately for us, most people dead-asleep about Waxman-Markey and polls have shown that they believe cap-and-trade to be about regulation of Wall Street. The general public is also woefully ignorant of basic economics. They think economics is whatever government (so-called) experts say it is, rather than an inviolable set of principles for peaceful coexistence and cooperation amoung peoples and nations.

To paraphrase the great (NOT) Maurice Strong, our only hope may be that this present system collapses of its own weight. The Federal Reserve System has doubled the monetary base. The Federal Deficit is expected to be $1.8 Trillion, this year alone. No one cares. The voters shrug. The corrupted politicians get reelected - which, by human nature, becomes an affirmation that what they're doing must be right. They talk about a "Medicare for All" health-care system, not knowing, not caring, that Medicare already has an $89 Trillion unfunded liability (Medicare Board of Trustees latest annual report, released earlier this month), while the GDP of the entire country is $14 Trillion/year. Add in the unfunded liabilities of the Social (in)Security System and what? No one cares. The voters shrug and reelect the same corrupt, empty promises, politicians.

Never mind. Ignore the man behind the curtain. This will all work if only we would believe in "Change we can believe in" - and we held hands around the campfire singing kumbaya.

Yep. You're absolutely right Mr. Driessen. This will not be a pretty sight. It will not end well. When the definitive history of the 20th Century is finally written an undeniable aspect of that history will be "Death by Government". Too bad for us that it hasn't been written yet, that we might learn from it and avoid its continuation in the 21st.
