The Fear of Martial Law

E-mail Print

The President of the United States of America, Barack Hussein Obama, has generated so much fear that the most common theme of posted comments and private communications is that he will refuse to relinquish power if defeated in November or that, under some pretext, he will declare a state of martial law.

Many, myself included, did not like the Patriot Act that was enacted following 9/11 but there is little evidence that this law has been abused to deprive Americans of their fundamental rights and freedom, though surely some suspected of being terrorists were detained.

Will The US Senate Ratify the UN Small Arms Treaty?

E-mail Print

I originally wrote about this threat in December of 2010. But with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton having publicly stated that the Obama Administration will be working hand-in-glove with the UN to pass a new "Small Arms Treaty,"  American gun owners need to keep in mind that with the constraints of another election no longer facing Obama (should he win in November) the Obama Administration can press ahead at -- flank speed -- to ram this treaty through the US Senate.  If passed it will, for all intents and purposes, disarm American citizens ... superseding the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution.

Changing Our Country Into Several Countries

E-mail Print

Make no bones about it; America continues changing itself right before our eyes as we add another 125,000 third world immigrants every 30 days.  One to two million annually!  Our culture changes from its intelligent, rich and vibrant former self into a polyglot culture of illiteracy, violence to women and other aspects of “multiculturalism.”

A reader Helen related, “I live in Bridgeport, Connecticut and I feel I am in a foreign country.  I have lived here since I was 11 years old and am now 82 years old.  We have been invaded by the enemy.  This is not America anymore.  Every time I go to the market or to Burger King all the food is  foreign. Clothes here are sexy looking and deep, stark colors for Hispanic women not tailored or feminine anymore for American women.  There are many changes here.  I notice that we also have a lot of Asian people here.

Incoming! Asteroid 2012 DA14

We have seen the action movies about huge fiery asteroids hurtling toward, and slamming into, earth.  We have sat, glued to our seats,  as action heroes such as Bruce Willis, and even Clint Eastwood, save earth from certain destruction.

My friend Zeb, when told of the current threat, said:  "This ain't no movie!"  Zeb's right.  This not a movie, at all.  It is, apparently, the real thing.

Meet Daniela Palaez 18: Illegal Immigrant

E-mail Print

Not everything is black and white, much as we would like it to be.  Most folks know I am no softie when it comes to illegal immigration. While there are exceptions, most illegals are bleeding this country to the bone, breaking laws and mooching off law-abiding American taxpayers for free food, free housing, free health care and free education. Like many Americans, my view is much like President Eisenhower’s of the 1950′s when he initiated Operation Wetback and sent over one million illegals back to their native countries in order to open the job market for Americans.

In Jihad We Trust

E-mail Print

The AP reports:

A trend of Afghan treachery that has taken the lives of six American troops over the past week is poisoning a key ingredient in the international coalition's formula for winding down the decade-long war: trust.  Not just "a" key ingredient. "Trust," according to former Joint Chiefs Chairman Admiral Mike Mullen, is the "coin of the realm" in Afghanistan. "Lose the people's trust," he wrote in early 2009, "and we lose the war." That was non-sense then and it is non-sense now. It is little wonder, then, that the COIN war the US has led all these year in pursuit of Afghan trust has failed so miserably.

It’s a Pity Somebody Has To Win

E-mail Print

We have no national interest in overthrowing Assad.

Asked about the Iran-Iraq war that stretched for eight ghastly years after breaking out in 1980, Henry Kissinger is said to have quipped, “It’s a pity they both can’t lose.”

The pity is that we have lost that exquisite wisdom  concerning our national interest, despite a two-decade road to hell paved by good intentions — at least compassionate intentions — from Kosovo to Kandahar.
