Anti-Boehner Protest Fizzles Despite Washington Post Backing

E-mail Print

The Washington Post noted that House Speaker John Boehner’s commencement speech at the Catholic University of America (CUA) was non-political. But the Post story about the speech was entirely political. The story slammed Boehner’s conservative Catholic views by using a student at the event—one of about 30 liberal “social justice” advocates—to argue that the Republican from Ohio isn’t compassionate enough toward the poor.

Renewing the Patriot Act: Who Will Protect Us from Our Government?

E-mail Print

“It is the responsibility of the patriot to protect his country from its government.”—Thomas Paine

Those who founded this country knew quite well that every citizen must remain vigilant or freedom would be lost. This is the true nature of a patriot—one who sounds the clarion call when the Constitution is under attack. If, on the other hand, the people become sheep-like, it will lead to a government of wolves. This is what we are faced with today as Congress marches in lockstep with the White House to renew the USA Patriot Act.

Intelligence Leaks Not Very Intelligent

E-mail Print

The tracking down and recent killing of Osama bin Laden were major accomplishments of the U.S. Intelligence Community, the elite Navy SEAL team, which took out this terrorist murderer, and those in the Obama administration who authorized the successful raid. Ten years, and two Presidents later, justice was done. Whether seeking revenge is right or wrong, it sure felt good to see bin Laden go down. Payback is a “son of a gun” as the expression goes!

The persistence of those in our Intelligence Community and all of our special operations personnel are a real source of pride. I remember personally witnessing the murders in front of the CIA Headquarters in 1993.

Soros Group Behind Attack on Boehner’s Catholicism

E-mail Print

A Washington Post story about Catholic professors challenging Rep. John Boehner’s Catholic faith with an open letter to the House Speaker ignores the role of one of the key signers in a George Soros-funded group.

The letter to Boehner says, “Your record in support of legislation to address the desperate needs of the poor is among the worst in Congress.” Ignoring the Catholic tradition of subsidiarity, or decentralized government, and voluntarism, the letter claims Boehner’s votes against expansion of the federal welfare state are anti-Catholic.

Letter signer Stephen F. Schneck of the Catholic University of America (CUA) is a board member of the Soros-funded Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good (CACG). Because of the significant funding the group has received from Soros, an atheist, CACG has been called a “fake Catholic” group designed to undermine official Catholic teaching on abortion and homosexuality and promote Obama Administration Big Government policies. The former CACG executive director, Alexia Kelley, now works for the Obama Administration.

The Death of One Osama

E-mail Print

“Bin Laden is Killed,” headlines blanketed the world, a few days ago. Many  rejoiced and felt justice was served while a few mourned the mass murderer’s demise. Celebration and mourning aside, the fact is that the death of one demon does not mark the end of the evil of Islamism. In the same way that it is in the nature of swamps to breed mosquitoes, Islam is the incubator of jihadist mass murderers.

In a statement, Al-Qaeda has praised the “sheikh” as a hero by proclaiming shamelessly: where else would one expect a warrior of Allah be martyred other than on the battlefield?

Cell Phones and The Federal Government

Government Propaganda/Tracking Devices?

Like many men, I wear my cell phone in a holster on my belt.  It goes where I go and it remains in the same room in which I sleep every night.  If you want to know where I am… just find my cell phone.

It is easy enough to track me as the phone emits a signal, which shows my geographical location, continuously, even now.  The only way I have found to defeat that GPS locater system is to remove the battery.

The Fannie Mae Mess

E-mail Print

It was a relatively short Wall Street Journal article on Saturday, May 7th. “ Fannie Mae Falls Back Into the Loss Column.”

“Fannie Mae reported a net loss of $6.5 billion for the first quarter as a weakening housing market dashed hopes that the company had stabilities,” wrote Nick Timiraos. “Fannie said Friday it would ask the government for a fresh taxpayer infusion of $6.2 billion after paying dividends to the Treasury.”

What we are witnessing—and paying for—is the way this “government-sponsored enterprise” (GSE) has distorted the nation’s housing market since it came into being. Freddie Mac is another GSE that shares the blame.
