"JERUSALEM (JTA) - Human Rights Watch called on Hamas to open an investigation into alleged war crimes.

The organization sent a letter Tuesday to Gaza Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh calling on Hamas to launch a "credible investigation" into the alleged violations highlighted in the United Nations' Goldstone report, according to reports. (link to JTA)

(Can you stop laughing? I can't).

Imagine the conversation:

HRW: We want you to launch an investigation of the allegations that you "may have committed war crimes" when you fired 10,000 rockets and mortar shells into Israel over a period of 8 years.

Barack Obama Sees Poll Rating Plummet Print E-mail

The decline in Barack Obama's popularity since July has been the steepest of any president at the same stage of his first term for more than 50 years. Barack Obama's popularity has fallen steeply since being elected last year.

Gallup recorded an average daily approval rating of 53 percent for Mr. Obama for the third quarter of the year, a sharp drop from the 62 percent he recorded from April. His current approval rating - hovering just above the level that would make re-election an uphill struggle - is close to the bottom for a newly-elected president.

On October 10 President Obama showed his true rainbow colors to gay activists attending a fundraiser for the Human Rights Campaign, the largest lesbian, gay bisexual, transgendered "LGBT Left" group in the country.  Despite the personal favor, some disgruntled activists picketed outside.  On the issue of gays in the military, what do they want the President to do?

The California-based Michael D. Palm Center, an academic gay activist group, has issued several reports describing a "roadmap" for repeal of the 1993 law that is constantly mislabeled "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."  (Unlike the administrative policy imposed on the military by Bill Clinton, the actual law, Section 654, Title 10, states that homosexuals are not eligible for military service.)

BasicsProject.org- Constitutional Literacy

After giving a talk to a group of family values minded Freeport, Illinois area residents addressing three major threats facing the United States - which I term "The Perfect Storm," and a solution to a problem that safeguards the US Constitution, I found myself personally and ideologically assailed by a letter-writer to a local newspaper, a Ms. Patricia Wemstrom. I take issue with her critique not only because she mischaracterized each and every point that I made at the event, but also because she wasn't even in attendance.

The critique was caustic and hateful in nature:

Can You Really Get the 'News' from Watching TV? Print E-mail

Truth is often lost when we fail to distinguish between opinion and fact, and that is the danger we now face as a society. Anyone who relies exclusively on television/cable news hosts and political commentators for actual knowledge of the world is making a serious mistake. Unfortunately, since Americans have by and large become non-readers, television has become their prime source of so-called "news."

This reliance on TV news has given rise to such popular news personalities such as Keith Olbermann, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Wolf Blitzer and Lou Dobbs, among others, who draw in vast audiences that virtually hang on their every word. In our media age, these are the new powers-that-be.
