U.S. President George W. Bush, fresh from meetings with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili on Wednesday, announced American support for Georgia’s NATO bid. Specifically, Bush announced that he would lobby the NATO allies to grant Georgia a Membership Action Plan (MAP), the first step toward joining the alliance.

 The U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments recently in a case concerning a law in the District of Columbia that essentially bans ownership of guns. Dozens of briefs were filed for consideration by the court, including one by the Bush administration that seemed to say "yes, people can own guns, but we (the government) have a right to put restrictions on gun ownership". Well, that's not what the constitution says.

The U.S. Federal Reserve reduced its headline interest rates from 3 percent to 2.25 percent on Tuesday afternoon. The cut, which was a quarter point less than the consensus expectation of 1 percent, followed the Fed’s March 16 redefinition of the rules of borrowing. Nevertheless, the U.S. markets did not plummet in disappointment.

The term "Sub Rosa" (literally "under the rose") was coined to indicate discussions that were to be secret; not to be disclosed to anyone outside the Sub Rosa group. Today we can substitute "SPP"
(Security and Prosperity Partnership agreement) for Sub Rosa because all discussions and agreements reached by government and business representatives of Canada, Mexico and the United States are too important to share with the public for whom they are acting. .
