The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has provided the following information and fast facts BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON SO-CALLED 'ASSAULT WEAPONS'
What has erroneously been termed an "assault weapon" is a semi-automatic firearm that fires just one bullet with each pull of the trigger (versus a fully automatic firearm -- machine gun -- which continues to shoot until the trigger is released). Specifically, legislation has incorrectly defined an "assault weapon" as a semi-automatic firearm that can accept a detachable magazine and has two or more of the following cosmetic features (it is these cosmetic features that distinguish the firearm from other "non-assault weapons."):

Right Side News: from the National Shooting Sports Foundation ( NSSF), comes some good material concerning the hype on so called "assault weapons". The NSSF press release today gives crucial information for understanding the issue. These so-called "assault rifles" are not what our military uses to take out the enemy, they use automatic weapons. Semi-automatic rifles, though confusingly classified in the USA as assault weapons by the now defunct 1994 Assault Weapons Ban (that Obama wants to reinstate), are not assault rifles as they are not selective fire. Belt-fed weapons or rifles with fixed magazines also do not meet the definition of an assault rifle........

Question: Who stands to benefit most from the proposed automaker bailout?
Answer: Big Labor, the very group whose campaigns did most to suffocate the domestic automobile industry.
With this in mind, the answer to the current crisis is restructuring through bankruptcy, not a wasteful bailout. While bankruptcy would allow reworking of unsustainable labor contracts and legacy costs, a bailout would merely exacerbate the problem and kick the can down the road.

RADIO CALL "APPARENTLY" ELICITS OBAMA'S BIRTH PLACE WAS IN KENYA

A Detroit radio station (WRIF Radio, Detroit) allegedly calls Kenya and claims to speak to someone who represents himself as the "Kenyan Ambassador". While this call has some interesting aspects, what anyone with diplomatic experience would ask is why call Kenya to talk to the Kenyan Ambassador - presumably to the USA - unless he was on home leave from the Kenyan Embassy in Washington D.C.
