Anyone who is successful at forging relationships has mastered the art of diplomacy. There are a few simple rules. There is a time and a place for everything. You cannot change another person, only yourself. You have to give to receive. Maintaining a balance of power is probably the most difficult. If one person denies another a relationship, there can be no balance of power because that person has taken all the control.

The United Nations' new "senior advisor on water"-a Canadian woman named Maude Barlow-says everybody has a right to water.
What that means, I guess, is that I have a right to take a bucket down to Whiskey Creek-a mile away-and carry home enough water to drink (after I boiling it to kill any bacteria left in the stream by the local deer and raccoons). If Whiskey Creek should dry up in a drought, I'd have the right to go even further, to the Shenandoah River, for my God-given water, or perhaps even to the Chesapeake Bay.

Liar, Liar, Pants on Ceasefire
by Barry Rubin
December 21, 2008
If you can understand why Hamas is ending its ceasefire with Israel, you can comprehend Middle East politics. And if you can't, you can't.
From of a Western moderate pragmatist standpoint o, Hamas's decision makes no sense for several reasons:
- Hamas cannot defeat Israel militarily. Thus, fighting won't improve Hamas's strategic situation or bring victory.

The Christmas season is like no other time of the year. In spite of the freezing weather people have to contend with, most folks reveal a certain happy sparkle in their eyes. Maybe it's because the season brings with it optimism about the future. For those within the Christian faith, there is an understanding that there is more to come. We hold fast and trust in God's faithful promise of the "blessed assurance" (John 10:28).

My Mother was a "flapper", one of the girls during the Roaring Twenties of the last century. She didn't need a woman's movement to assert herself. She drove a car, held down a job, but-I was assured-did not dance on table tops, nor smoke, nor anything else that today would be taken for granted. She married a Certified Public Accountant and that tells you what a level-headed a girl she was. They stayed married for over sixty years. She would live to age 98!
