The View from 1776
Labor unions aim to prevent competition with their over-priced union labor, either from within the United States or from abroad. That was the intent of one of the principal political platform planks in Hitler's National Socialist German Workers Party (Nazis).

"What country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that this people preserve the spirit of resistance?"--Thomas Jefferson
Over the past few months, I've heard from many Americans who feel they've lost the power to be heard by their government. From the repeated assaults on our civil liberties to the financial ruin brought about by irresponsible corporations and government officials, Americans feel helpless and beaten down.

Tea time in Edenton once more
By Bob Steinburg
History has a way of repeating itself. On Oct. 25, 1774 in Edenton, a small colonial village in the province of northeastern North Carolina, the earliest known organized political action by women in U. S. history took place. Penelope Barker, along with some 50 women of the town, organized a tea party. Barker convinced the women present to stop drinking tea and buying English goods. Each signed a petition sent to England, declaring their patriotism and opposition to the tyranny of rule by the crown. The British leadership knew their grip on the colonies was further loosening.

Like many conservatives, traditionalists and Republicans who didn't want to ape the caustic rhetoric of the neo-Marxist Progressive-Left used during the entirety of the Bush Administration, I promised myself to refrain from immediately assuming that Barack Obama was going to bring with him to the White House the backroom politics of Chicago's Democrat Machine. I employed the Reagan doctrine of "trust but verify."

It is amazing how similar politics in Israel are to politics in the United States. Both countries have so-called liberal and conservative elements; the difference being that Israeli liberal policies will lead to the rapid end of the country and the present neo socialist government in the United States is accomplishing the slow death of the country.
