The Politico piece, "Conservatives Target Their Own Fringe," attempts to identify various extremists within the conservative movement, including the "militia" movement. Writer Kenneth P. Vogel suggests that they include the Oath Keepers who helped co-sponsor the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). But Vogel's effort to link this group to the militia movement, which some people associate with the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, is a charge not backed up by any evidence in the article.
However, the Oath Keepers do have some explaining to do, such as why they associate with Russia Today television favorite Alex Jones, the prominent 9/11 "truther." Jones may posture as a conservative, but he is anything but one.

Limiting an Overreaching Federal Government: Is State Nullification the Solution? A Constitutional Analysis
For example, in 1998, Bill Clinton was accused of committing perjury and obstruction of justice while president, 1 but his supporters argued that these crimes did not rise to the level of impeachable offenses because they were not "high crimes" under the Constitution. 2 (They argued that "high crimes" did not include felonies in a civil proceeding but rather criminal felonies such as treason, murder, etc. 3 ). Yet the historic definition of "high crimes" in the Constitution was a wrongdoing committed by a person in a "high" office (such as the president or a federal judge, in contrast to a local school board member or city dogcatcher). Therefore, a civil felony committed in office by the president did indeed constitute a "high crime" and definitely was an impeachable offense, but few citizens understood this because they were unfamiliar with that clause of the Constitution.

The war of words is continuing. The latest salvoes were fired last week by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, and his Lebanese ally and client Hassan Nasrallah. Ahmedinejad reportedly told Nasrallah that if Israel attacks Hizballah, the response should be sufficient to lead to the closure, once and for all, of the Israeli 'case.' In the same week, Nasrallah promised attendees at a 'Resistance Martyrs Day' celebration that his movement would target Israel's infrastructure in the event of further hostilities. The Hizballah leader mentioned airports, factories and refineries as possible targets.
Hizballah second in command Naim Qassem joined in this week, describing Israel as 'worse than Nazism,' and the 'leader of international crime under the sponsorship of the U.S. and major world powers.'

A story by Kenneth P. Vogel in the Politico, under the headline, "Conservatives Target Their Own Fringe," insists that "the conservative establishment" is launching a purge of "extremist elements" from the conservative movement. However, these extremists are conspicuously not identified in the article as the "gay conservatives" who co-sponsored the recent Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). These are the "anal sex practitioners," as Howard Phillips of the Conservative Caucus prefers to calls them.
This Phillips term is not intended to demean anyone; it is descriptive of what male homosexuals do. Such unnatural and extreme behavior, in addition to being dangerous, makes a mockery of the traditional moral and religious values that conservatives hold dear.

From NY to Jerusalem, Daniel Greenfield Covers the Stories Behind the News
We all know the famous Fukuyama quote, "Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it." But why is it that we are so forgetful that we cannot remember the past, and thus must keep repeating it, over and over again?
Human self-centeredness convinces us of our own specialness and uniqueness, and all too easily fosters the historically fallacious idea that we are living in a unique time and a special age. That we have left behind history with our progress and our achievements, and with our very existence.
