Mac's Oil-Drilling Flip-Flop Is a Good First Step Print E-mail

lkudlow.jpgWarts and all, John McCain’s flip-flop on offshore drilling is a very welcome development. When circumstances change, political leaders should change their policies. And $4 at the pump and $140 in the open market is certainly enough changing circumstances to warrant McCain’s constructive shift on offshore drilling. Regrettably, McCain still talks about the “pristine” ANWR patch. But he’s just not gonna move on that.

What a difference three years makes: In 2005, I led the charge against a massive global warming cap-and-trade bill. It was a lonely battle with few GOP members willing to join me on the Senate floor to publicly oppose it.

russertc.jpgA tribute to Tim Russert

Always remember, those kids shed their blood on the sidewalk there. They replaced the sidewalk, there's no sign left of it, but the memory lives on with you and it lives on with me.-John Siegenthaler

NBC news lost its franchise player and America lost one of her franchise patriots and political "go to guys", Tim Russert, to a sudden heart failure on Friday, June 13, 2008, in NBC's Washington, D.C. studios while recording “voiceovers” for Meet the Press; he was pronounced dead later at Sibley Memorial Hospital.

The constitutional amendment process is a complicated and lengthy affair. This is because we cannot be certain what consequences might arise from a seemingly minor alteration of the Constitution. To be sure, exchanging the electoral-vote system for direct election would adversely impact the entire constitutional and political structure of the United States.

cliff-kincaid-small.jpgFormer Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich has been on Fox News and Sean Hannity’s radio show promoting oil drilling in the U.S to help solve our energy crisis. He’s got a “Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less” campaign drawing hundreds of thousands of names to one of his websites. But this is a new tune.

For some time now a struggling MSNBC has employed a Bush hating mad hatter by the name of Keith Olbermann. Olbermann appears to be on an endless mission to disparage the president as well as the war on terror, and in doing so has created a very interesting example of the inner workings of the far left liberal. First, in highlighting the five follies of Olbermann it is only fair to give the disclaimer that these failings are not Olbermann’s alone but are general characteristics of the far left.

I have reason to believe Barack Obama will pick a woman to be his running mate.  It just won’t be Hillary Clinton.

Several months ago, I wrote that Obama did not need Hillary.  He does not need her now – unless she has pictures.
