In a just world the American successful effort to topple brutish dictator Saddam Hussein and his even more evil sons would have been met with cheers around the world, and especially in Iraq and the United States. But the world does not sensibly react to momentous efforts to secure freedom so what we find is ingratitude in the world, including in Iraq, and domestic political maneuvering for political power.

Barack Obama recently issued another of his linguistic masterpieces in addressing the issues of racism, hate-speech and his spiritual mentor, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. His speech was pretty. It was eloquent. It was impassioned. It attempted to approach the true issue in danger of being overshadowed by a sensationalistic mainstream news media; racism in the total of American society, including the Black community.

U.S. President George W. Bush, fresh from meetings with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili on Wednesday, announced American support for Georgia’s NATO bid. Specifically, Bush announced that he would lobby the NATO allies to grant Georgia a Membership Action Plan (MAP), the first step toward joining the alliance.

The U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments recently in a case concerning a law in the District of Columbia that essentially bans ownership of guns. Dozens of briefs were filed for consideration by the court, including one by the Bush administration that seemed to say "yes, people can own guns, but we (the government) have a right to put restrictions on gun ownership". Well, that's not what the constitution says.

The term "Sub Rosa" (literally "under the rose") was coined to indicate discussions that were to be secret; not to be disclosed to anyone outside the Sub Rosa group. Today we can substitute "SPP"

Both the Wall Street Journal and conservative economist Lawrence A. Kudlow are defending the Bush Administration’s big-government-socialist bailout of Bear Stearns.

The taxpayers are bailing out a big bank while millions of Americans may be losing their homes in the financial meltdown. Where are the conservatives protesting this?

On March 13th, an ABC News report revealed incendiary excerpts from several sermons recorded on DVD by Obama's spiritual advisor, The Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Jr.  Until his retirement last month, Wright was the pastor at the Trinity United Church in Chicago.
