Lake Charles, La. - Louisiana State Police officers contacted the Lake Charles, La. Border Patrol station requesting assistance in translating for 31 Spanish speaking subjects at a worksite in Lake Charles. The Louisiana State Police was searching for a fugitive wanted in Texas for homicide.

 -     Armed robberies of commercial establishments have seen a surge in Guadalajara and just Tuesday there were ten.
-     Vehicle theft in Mexico in 2008 has been the highest in the last eleven years and has reached 57,294 through the month of September, a 14% increase. The Mexico City area has the highest number but Jalisco has tallied 4,104, a 24% increase over 2007.

Border Patrol in Texas Seizes More than 1,000 Pounds of Marijuana Print E-mail

- Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley, Texas sector seized 1,043 pounds of marijuana and a 1994 Plymouth Voyager early Saturday afternoon.
Border Patrol agents in Edinburg, Texas were able to pull over a passenger van that held these bundles of marijuana, weighing more than 1,000 pounds.

Just prior to 3 p.m. Saturday, agents from the McAllen station encountered a 1994 Plymouth Voyager near Penitas, Texas. The vehicle was displaying Texas license plates belonging to another vehicle. As agents attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver opened his door and absconded. A search of the Voyager led to the discovery of 1,043 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $834,400.00.

The case was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration pending an investigation.

Mobile, Ala. - A joint federal team was mobilized Sunday to investigate a report of three stowaways aboard a barge off of Mobile, Ala. The team was made up of members from U.S. Customs and Boarder Protection and the Coast Guard.
