The US Border Patrol reports from last weeks' blotter
October 30, 2008 Border Patrol agents seized over 15,777 pounds of marijuana valued at $12,622,560 and 534 pounds of cocaine valued at $34,688,000. Agents arrested 6 criminal aliens and 2 gang members. There were 6 rocking incidents.

Washington - U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner W. Ralph Basham today announced the publication of the CBP Trade Strategy at the annual CBP Trade Symposium in Washington, D.C. The trade strategy is the first published document that explains how CBP will accomplish its mission of facilitating legitimate trade.

Dunseith, N.D. - U.S. citizens traveling to the International Peace Garden from within the United States will not be required to present a Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative compliant document when exiting the park southbound, upon full WHTI implementation on June 1, 2009.

[Leading the Mexican news today was the public revelation of corruption in SIEDO, the principal federal agency in Mexico's war against organized drug traffic.]

Narcotraffic has been embedded in the structure of Mexico's principal anti-drug agency for 11 years, according to the US government. Since 1997, one of principal officials in the anti-drug war, Miguel Colorado González, has been in the service of the Beltrán Leyva Cartel, according to a diplomatic note delivered by the US to Mexico.
