From three different Mexican newspapers, three different tales of savagery:
Cambio de Michoacán (Morelia, Michoacán) 1/27/10
A public employee was at his job, sweeping the streets, and came across a cardboard box left right next to the "carnitas" [barbecued pork] stands on the main plaza at Quiroga, Michoacán. There was a human head in the box. "Municipal authorities reported that the rest of the body was found later."
Critica (Hermosillo, Sonora) 1/27/10
In Nogales, Sonora [right across the border from Nogales, AZ, and some 60 mi. south of Tucson, AZ, as the crow flies] : an abandoned sedan with no license plate. In the trunk: the bodies of two men. Their heads had been cut off. Later, elsewhere in Nogales, two human heads were found "in a blue plastic box."

The Mexican government's new representative in Dallas has devised a plan to give the area's half a million illegal aliens an image makeover that will shed their tainted reputations as noisy litterers who celebrate with guns and leave kids at home unsupervised.
The goal, according to the Mexican consul general, is for the compatriots who live illegally in his Texas consular region to earn the respect of Americans who see them as a nuisance to their country. The undocumented Mexicans have a bad reputation, said Consul General Juan Carlos Cue-Vega, and its time for an image makeover.

Jefferson City - The Missouri House Special Standing Committee on General Laws heard extensive testimony today on a House Joint Resolution (HJR) that would bring the proposed Health Care Freedom issues to a vote by Missouri's citizens.
HJR 57, sponsored by Rep. Tim Jones (R-Eureka) and co-sponsored by 75 of Rep. Jones' House colleagues, calls for an amendment to the Missouri Constitution to preserve and protect the right of Missourians to make their own health care and health insurance choices.
Specifically, it would protect the right of Missourians to pay directly for medical services, and it would prohibit Missouri families and small businesses from being penalized for not purchasing bureaucrat-approved and mandated health insurance.

Censorship has Consequences
On January 9, 2009, American Border Patrol issued a press release entitled "Does the Border Fence Work?" In it, ABP announced a press conference to be held at the National Press Club on January 15 to, among other things, "show a strong correlation between the construction of the border fence and drug-related deaths in Mexico between 2005 and 2009."
At that press conference ABP used data from its aerial surveys of the border demonstrate this correlation.
ABP argued that if a small amount of fencing had such an impact, surely completing the border fence would go a long way toward ending the stranglehold the drug cartels have on Mexico.

The Africanization of Mexico
[Portions of an op/col. by Ricardo Monreal Avila, titled as above]
The country that most Mexicans (31 out of every 100) want to be like is the United States, followed distantly by China and Canada (6 and 5 of every 100, respectively) (Nexos, Consulta Mitofsky, January 2010) ["Consulta Mitofsky" is an often cited Mexican public opinion organization.] Granted that the highest percentage in this study is from those who wanted to be like "none of the above" (34 of every 100), without specifying the motive for this "none" (outdated nationalism? ignorance or lack of interest?) the desirable model for almost one third of the Mexican population is clear.
