TECATE, Calif. The Border Patrol has discovered a secret tunnel that may have been used for smuggling drugs across the U.S.-Mexico border east of San Diego. Agency spokesman Matt Johnson says an agent heard noise Monday from a 30-foot trailer parked 150 feet north of the border in the town of Tecate. When he peered inside, he saw a pistol-toting man disappear into a hole. The trailer was half-full of packages believed to contain narcotics.
The Border Patrol says it's unclear if the tunnel was completed. U.S. and Mexican authorities are investigating. Authorities have discovered dozens of tunnels along the U.S.-Mexico border in recent years, with many clustered around San Diego and Nogales, Arizona. AP

States in rebellion by Ernest Istook
Once again, the states are rebelling against Washington. Fed up with dithering in D.C., states are proving enforcement works. Enforcement not only can prevent illegal immigration, but actually reverse it. Illegal immigrants by the tens of thousands are leaving states that have adopted tough new laws Colorado, Georgia, Arizona and now Oklahoma. Local efforts are being launched too quickly to count, involving more than 100 communities so far.

How Congress And The President Are Working Behind-The-Scenes To Un-Do The Secure Fence Act
From GrassFire
As Grassfire.ore has previously reported, despite grandiose claims, our government has built just 5 miles of the the 854 miles of double-layer border fence mandated by the Secure Fence Act of 2006. ( Go here for that report.) While this fact is outrageous in and of itself, it begs a question:Why?

Our politicians extremely inept border control and security is outrageous, and it is very plain that Washington is either oblivious or they are allowing this to happen due to some larger agenda.
The main issue in the upcoming elections is not health care, its our national security that begins at our borders. Read and view the following from the American Patrol Report

This is just one of many reports coming out of New York's Governer Spitzers plan to provide driver's licences to illegal alieans. Lawsuits are being filed. Don't you think this would be obvious that it would be illegal to provde state licenses to illegals? Where did common sense go? Our politicians have become a pandering bunch that needs to be sent back home. Several related news links at end of article.
At lunch today, I asked our son this question. "What do you think about providing illegal aliens a state drivers license?" His face became "puzzled" and he looked at me and said "You're serious?"
New York sheriffs, county clerks take aim at governors plan to license illegals
An organization of New York state sheriffs and two county clerks have came out strongly against Governor Elliotts Spitzers plan to provide drivers licenses to illegal aliens. The Sheriffs' Association formally opposed the plan following a presentation by Spitzer's homeland-security director.
