Pastors "Unshackled" on the Road to November

"I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night."  (Isaiah 62:7) "Howl, ye ministers  of the altar, sanctify a fast, call a sacred assembly, sound an alarm!" (Joel 1:13-14; 2:1) "They keep watch over you as men who must  give an account." (Heb. 13:7)

bible-american-flagWith only 25 days left until the elections, pulpits across America are sounding the alarm in a new Great Awakening for righteousness.  Over 1600 pastors participated in Pulpit Freedom Sunday last week, defying threats of lawsuits from groups like Americans United for the Separation of Church and State and the unholy shadow of possible IRS challenges to their religious freedom.

For example, Bishop Harry Jackson, a powerful  national voice for black Americans, preached a sermon at his Hope Christian Church in Maryland entitled "Four Reasons Why I Cannot Support Barack Obama for President" and warned members not to vote for him again. His four reasons are as follows:

  1. "The President is against the value of human life and forces taxpayers and faith groups to fund abortions in violation of their conscience."
  2. "The President does not support marriage but instead helped create a party platform that promoted gay marriage. So, he's against marriage? We're against him!"
  3. "The President is not for Israel, and if we are against Israel, we come under the judgment of God. As a black community, we cannot support his anti-God, anti-Gospel agenda just because he's black! We cannot celebrate race over grace."
  4. "The President is against religious liberty. Like Ahab and Jezebel, the Obama administration has an aggressive anti-Christian spirit that will only get worse if he is re-elected."
