I want to address our values and morals in America. When people complain that our society here in America has deteriorated it is necessary to define what exactly we have lost and where it came from. Our values and moral belief system came from the Bible. The short list of what we believe to be our basis of values and morality is the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20:1-17 and Deuteronomy 5:6-21)
People here in America want "Christian" values without Christianity. You cannot have "Christian" values without Christianity. You cannot have Christianity without the Bible, and you cannot have the Bible without Genesis 1 to 11! What does Genesis 1 to 11 have to do with the price of tea in China you ask? It is the foundation for the how and why everything came to be. How the earth, people, and animals got here, and why we need laws, values, and morality.
If there is no God then you will act accordingly, "if it feels good do it". ß This is dangerous, as far as I am concerned, rape, murder, molestation is in this list.
If there is a God then there is a need for rules, laws, values, and morality. There are no other options.
Of all the belief systems on earth the only one that has a reason for why we need a system of laws and values is Christianity. As far as I know even Islam does not say WHY we need them.
Animals do not have a system of laws, morals, and values, just live and die. Sound like fun? Not to me. I like the idea of having a value system, a moral code to live by. It gives me a sense of purpose. I can hear it now; all of the other people in the other belief systems are screaming I have a purpose. In the grand scheme of things you may have some kind of a purpose here on planet earth but after you die, nope. So why bother?
Muslims? Well they gain their purpose after conversion. So we are back to either God decides truth or man.
If your sense of values comes from a belief in evolution I would have a very difficult time being able to fully trust you. Your value system changes with the wind. Evolution states that in order to produce a "higher", race or animal the weak one has to die. How that death happens is also a matter of perspective. If, in order to procure said "Higher" species, one must be tortured then so be it. If being raped will produce a "Higher" species then so be it. We see this happening in almost all parts of the animal kingdom. Lions don't ask about marriage and are not concerned with fidelity. Lions kill another lion's offspring. Feel free to insert just about any major family kind where I used "Lion", Hyena, Bear, Alligator, Ape, even some in the species of Man do this. Hey if the strong survive and he is bigger than me than I need to bring a bigger stick or gun to ensure my survival. Theft too is not to be confused with right or wrong it is just an action used to continue the family kind. Hey look at the IRS, the big bankers, most politicians. In their worldview, they are truly ensuring the survival of our species, man. The population of the human race may go down a bit but that's ok, all the better to ensure a higher quality human evolves into something better. The value system of each human society follows one of 2 views. Christian or non-Christian. Christian societies do not change their core values, ever.
I can hear Muslims screaming right now that they are different, they are better. According to who's standard? Standards really do define a society. If the society you live in says stealing is wrong you must define what stealing is, why it is wrong, and what will be done about it.
Each society handles this differently. Before I go on I just want to state that each moral code that can be listed can be inserted in lieu of theft, murder rape, etc...
So, now what do we do to these thieves?
Muslims, for example; will cut off or maim an appendage for theft. Be it a loaf of bread or something worth millions. And don't let them tell you any different it is written in their belief system.
Buddhist's/Hindu's will beat you with a stick.
Christians will make you make amends according to the severity of the crime.
Atheists, in a sense fall in the category of evolutionist's
Evolutionist's right now are forced to follow the rules of the society in which they live. However, an evolutionist/atheist does not have a Christian value system. So we are back to it is not a matter of right or wrong it is just an action used to continue the family kind. And right now with the growth of the evolutionists they are teaching whole societies a non-value system. Kids all over the world are being taught that they are just animals and they are acting like it. This is normal behavior for someone that believes in evolutionism.
Defending the weak is a world view reserved only for Christians. If a Christian society is weak the Muslims do not protect them. The evolutionists/atheists do not protect them. The Hindu's do not protect them. There is no worldview on this planet that protects ALL who are weak except the Christian worldview. Muslims will "say" we too are commanded to protect the weak. Well to a point, Only if you are a Muslim.
Look it up it is in their religious writings.
You cannot have this value system without Jesus. When you remove Christianity from the school system, from the government system, from society all you do is replace it with another value system that is less valuable.
America was built on the foundation of Christianity. Christianity in and of itself does not force itself on anyone, the individual may, but Christianity says here is a way of life you may freely choose or decline. Most of the world religions force itself on to all. The others like Hinduism and the like take a stand of easy come easy go.
If you want the golden rule in your society, (do unto others as you would have them do unto you), you must accept all that comes with it. It really does offer a better way to do things.
