As you well know, I'm not timid when speaking about my concerns. I'm here to remind grassroots Americans of the undeniable "bottom line" truth that too many "conservatives," and nearly all libertarians, seem to forget that America can be saved and preserved only by the grace of God.

Political action can help, to some extent, in getting needed changes accepted and instituted. However, America is crumbling materially and militarily because of its loss of moral decency — and this moral "sea change" cannot be undone solely by political means.

Moral freefall

Need I remind you that the family is disintegrating? Unmarried couples are now living together in unprecedented numbers — ten times the rate of 1970.

Abortion — largely the result of unmarried sex — continues unabated, killing 1.3 million unborn children each year. 83 percent of all abortions are by unmarried women, most of whom are under the age of 25.

There is a growing number of Americans who feel entitled to other people's property — and this sense of entitlement fuels ever-expanding usurpation and theft by the government.

It's appalling that our schools continue to be the most successful means of propagating atheism the world has ever known (as one Christian writer predicted over a century ago). Our children are being corrupted as never before by mandatory public education that increasingly supplants parental influence.

 Unfortunately, to top it off, our elected leaders have approved openly gay behavior in the military, along with likely punishment for those who speak out against it.

And so on. What is going on here?

Jesus said, 'Come, follow me'

Other similar social trends reveal a nation that is about to implode culturally and institutionally because of its rapid moral decline. And the root cause of this moral demise is disrespect for the existence and authority of God.

Whatever happened to the notion of embracing God's Holy Ten Commandments? They represent His character and nature, and are a divine invitation for us to become like Him.

Why some pastors turn the scriptures inside-out and upside-down to push away God's blueprint for living is beyond good sense. We are saved by grace, to be sure, but the Lord expects those who accept salvation to live a godly life. If we ignore His commandments, we've tossed the convert out with the baptism water, so to speak — and to prove what?

"If you love me, keep my commandments," Jesus said, emphatically settling the matter (John 14:15, italics added). We show the depth of our conversion to Christ by behaving as the scriptures teach — beginning with putting God first.

Say no to drug use

As our nation moves increasingly away from reliance upon God and from obeying His voice, we have no promise that He will intervene and protect our country from our enemies — foreign and domestic. Without the assurance of such divine Providence, we're doomed as a people. We must return to God in large numbers and seek His will.

How does one grasp the foolishness of a prominent religious leader who says that smoking an illegal recreational drug, marijuana, is no big deal? It is unfortunate that Pat Robertson — the self-designated interpreter for our Lord Jesus Christ — spoke out against America's war on marijuana during a broadcast of The 700 Club. In doing so, he also unabashedly tickled everyone's ears.

I'm not impressed with Mr. Robertson's quasi-libertarian views. Most Christian denominations have a prison ministry that also includes those who are addicted to illegal substances. Any good rehabilitation program has to include tough love, or it will not be successful.

 Robertson's rant about pot was very unwise and unbefitting a man of his influence. A recreational drug impairs one's communication with God. Why would any self-proclaimed Christian want that?

"Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are" (1 Corinthians 3:16-17).

How about putting two and two together? Maybe we would have fewer problems with Mexico if we lived our lives without dependence on non-medical drugs. Nancy Reagan had it correct when she uttered these famous words: "Just say no." Is that too simple an answer for some folks?

Libertarian license for all

I'm not trying to be contrary or divisive. However, libertarianism merely reflects progressive liberalism. While libertarians advocate smaller government, one wonders if they realize that government's size matters little if morality is lost and our society is left in shambles. Our political pals, the libertarians, are the same people who go along with the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" crowd. They're — for lack of better words — strange bedfellows.

Libertarians don't think twice about legalizing prostitution, or making illegal drugs available without government interference. They also have no problem with letting same-sex marriage become the law of the land. Unfortunately, the Republican Party has allowed libertarians to use the Republican name and brand. They cheered when Scott Brown from Massachusetts became a senator. How is Brown working out for the team? He is not scoring well at all with the Tea Party or conservatism.

Some of us have had a difficult time figuring out how this acceptance of libertarianism came about. It appears that libertarians used the anger of the Tea Party movement to put their foot in the door. They have become the third largest political party in America. We're left with a dilemma. How do we repair our nation with people on both the left and the right who are not "socially conservative?"

Our national legislators — most notably Democrats — don't care about the will of the people. The majority of the American public understand how degrading it is for young heterosexual men and women to be forced to put up with "openly gay" troops serving side by side with them in the military.

Once again, we find the Democratic Party and their look-alikes doing all they can to help destroy our country's conscience, and the right-minded decency it has long encapsulated. While RINO Republicans praise Scott Brown for being politically smart, our troops will suffer the consequences. It doesn't take a genius to figure it out. There will be a mass exodus from the military over the repeal of DADT. Reinstatement of the draft could result.

 It should also be pointed out that this tactic is going to be used as a way for a back-door acceptance of gay marriage. It's a tad deceitful, but when did lack of virtue ever stop a progressive?

God is real

Here comes a spiritual shout out to my fellow Americans. The ire of God will rise simultaneously with the enactment of laws that allow same-sex marriage.

The Lord has been willing to hold back His mighty, just, and holy judgments until now.

"For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His" (2 Chronicles 16:9).

Christ wants to save every living person. But when the Lord's restraint is no longer, expect what is to come:

Let the one who does wrong, still do wrong; and the one who is filthy, still be filthy; and let the one who is righteous, still practice righteousness; and the one who is holy, still keep himself holy.Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done.I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. (Revelation 22:11-13)

We know that end times are near when a nation is willing to sacrifice people's health and lives under the guise of some contorted socialistic healthcare plan. And if things weren't looking bad enough, the death panels are back. How anyone can claim to be of sound mind and yet come up with such policies is truly dumbfounding.

 It's shocking that we've reached the point where we've allowed big government to force us and our loved ones to be counseled about how to die with dignity. And that, my friend, is nothing less than euthanasia re-worded by the progressives who have hold over our nation. How? By using unelected czars to bypass Congress and impose laws that are wretched, abominable, and uncivilized. View "Obama returns to end-of-life plan."

What it will take to save our nation

Unlike a few of my fellow colleagues, I do not believe for one moment that President Obama will go away to play golf or any other game at the end of his first term in office. He will try to make a comeback right in time for the 2012 elections so he can continue with his radical agenda.

Deeply-committed communists rarely — if ever — give up their grasp of power.

It's your choice. It is at this moment that patriots of all conservative stripes need to begin to understand: There is no possible way to defeat evil when we're not walking upright with the Almighty ourselves. Our country's morality has fallen. We need to reach down within ourselves and to pick it up. It is the kind of situation that needs to be salvaged and then restored personally within the heart of every man, woman, and child.

Don't be afraid or confused any longer. Christ is seeking you with all of His heart.

Jesus said, "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man [a sinner] is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost" (Luke 19:9-10).

If you haven't already, ask His forgiveness and begin a spiritual rebirth. As Larry Elder often says: "We have a country to save and a heaven to win."

 What America needs — if it is to survive in liberty — is a surge in citizen activism unlike anything our nation has ever before seen.

The success of such a grassroots movement will depend on how much individual citizens are willing to do their part to return our country to divinely-inspired principles of self-governance — those principles contained in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, and those validated by common sense and biblical teachings.

If you feel you need to "wait for instructions," or otherwise depend on others — especially those in positions of leadership — to guide and assist you, our country will not survive these perilous times. You must act as though the future of our country depends on you alone, for in a very real sense it does. It depends on the creative, responsible, exemplary initiative of yourself and those you inspire to similar patriotism.

Here are suggestions for helping to make a difference in the future of our country.

1. Live right.

   The single most important thing you can do for your country is to set an example of outward and inward commitment to godly living. Be the kind of person God can work through to save our nation.

    If you have yet to do so, determine with all your heart to yield your will completely to God "as a little child" (Matt. 18:3-4) and allow Him to change you according to His will and design for you — so that thereby you might truly fulfill your divine "mission" in life; so that you might be fully open to His guidance and influence; and so that you might be submissive to whatever challenges or tasks He desires of you. After yielding your will in this manner, and thus becoming truly born again according to the scriptural pattern (see John 3:1-8; Acts 1:1-9, 2:1-47; and Heb. 8:6-13), then work continuously on developing the godly self-discipline needed to please Him in all you do, and strive to overcome anything in your character that contradicts His precepts for godly, self-sacrificing, compassionate living.

   Be a true Christian in both word and deed, and continually strive to become a better one — one who inspires others to live by a higher standard than they may be accustomed.

   Never underestimate the power of righteous example — and be that kind of example!

   One thing is reasonably certain: If enough Americans live worthy of God's intervention and miracles in their lives, and inspire enough people around them to strive with all their hearts to do likewise — then according to biblical principles and teachings, God will spare our country, no matter what evils confront it. (See 2 Chron. 7:14 and Isaiah 60:12.)

   On such a scripture-based promise, we can all wisely depend.

2. Take bold, appropriate action.

   If — in a very real sense — our nation's future depends on you alone (and on similar patriots you inspire), don't simply be a spectator who watches others do courageous, remarkable things. Do them yourself! Lead out!

   The evils confronting America have never been more threatening, insidious, or powerful — and your country therefore needs your activism more than ever before. Stand up and make a difference!

   What should you do? If you're living in harmony with God's will, you'll know. You won't need "that any man teach you" (see 1 John 2:20-29), but will know in your heart by His Spirit what He wants you to do — and you will have His power and authority to sustain and multiply your efforts. (See Acts 10:34-38 and Matt. 7:29.) You won't need to rely on others to guide or direct you, but will be reliant on God alone to know and do His will.

   By your leadership, you will inspire others to do likewise in their own sphere and in their own way, as God directs them.

3. Consider the possibility that God might want you to:

   • Submit frequent letters to editors.

   • Testify at public hearings.

   • Hold regular gatherings in your home or community to discuss and promote the cause of liberty.

   • Volunteer to work in a political campaign, at any level, for any worthy purpose.

   • Widely distribute signs for a cause or a candidate.

   • Lead — or get involved in — a worthy petition drive.

   • Organize a rally, large or small, to publicize an urgent issue or cause.

   • Contact your local paper and offer to be interviewed regarding a public question or concern you have vital knowledge of.

   • Pick up the phone and share your views on talk radio — or if you have the skills and opportunity, create your own radio or internet talk show.

   • Create a blog.

   • Found a website.

   • Write and publish a regular column — or even a book.

   • Get actively involved in a major (or possibly a "third") political party in your state or the nation.

   • Run for local — or higher — public office.

   • Sign the Pledge for America's Revival — and invite others to do the same.

   • Participate in RenewAmerica’s Facebook page (and also America’s Revival’s Facebook page) — and support similar interactive forums on the web.

   • Help organize your state or local area in the cause of taking back our country.

   • Inform yourself. "Zeal without knowledge" (see Rom. 10:2-3) will not save our country. Become acquainted with reliable, principled websites, blogs, publications, books, speakers, organizations, and other praiseworthy sources for information regarding the needs of our country and the solutions to those needs.      A good place to start informing yourself would be to study essential documents that describe our nation's founding principles.

   • Work on your "people skills." By this, we mean your ability to strengthen and influence others for good — so they might be persuaded to take independent action — not your ability to "use" others for your own ends, as some might think. Respect the worth, dignity, and free will of each individual as you seek to assist them in fulfilling their duty as citizens.

   • Work on your communicative skills. "Politics is communication," to a large extent. Become the kind of communicator God can use for His purposes. Meaningful communication requires practice, experience, wisdom, and the operation of God's Spirit in effectively informing real people in real situations. This applies equally to both spoken and written communication.

   • Turn your skills and resources mainly to saving our country — above any other purpose beyond your own salvation and the well-being of your family — and rely on God to give you the practical means to do so.

4. Expect adversity.

   Just as our Founders — or other great figures in history — suffered considerable adversity and personal hardship for their principled allegiance to the will of God, you too can expect adversity as you stand forth in the cause of reclaiming America. "No good deed ever goes unpunished," as the saying goes.

   This will likely prove true the more you become a significant player in our country's future, as the Adversary will predictably seek to destroy your efforts — and as God Himself may undertake to try you, to test the depth of your commitment to His will.

   Of course, not all adversity comes from outside sources — since we often bring it upon ourselves by our imperfect nature. But it helps to bear in mind that, no matter the source of our difficulties and challenges, a wise Father can help us deal successfully and productively with all our struggles, provided we rely on Him, and not upon our own wisdom or strength.

5. Don't give up.

    If you persist in well-doing, relying on God to bless and sustain you against all odds and the hardships you can expect to encounter, you will emerge victorious over the forces of evil that confront our country, and you will be a beacon of reason and righteousness, and thus a tangible inspiration, to those around you.

   That's all anyone can expect of another in the cause of reclaiming our republic. If enough of us catch the vision of such selfless grassroots activism, and spread it infectiously to others, we will succeed in preserving the "blessings of liberty [not only] to ourselves [but to] our posterity."
