The demise of California due to illegal immigration and uncontrolled spending has impacted our national sovereignty and is a grand illustration of current and past administration's gross failure to secure our borders and enforce current law. Arizona "woke-up!", thank goodness.
UTLA head at amnesty rally
In 1970 there were a little more than 100,000 Hispanics in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Today it is about 500,000, due principally to illegal immigration.
In 1970, California had the 7th most educated work force of the 50 states in terms of the share of its workers who had completed high school. By 2008 it ranked 50th, making it the least educated state. (Center for Immigration Studies)
California's education system is in shambles in large part because teachers unions fought any attempt to enforce our immigration laws. Even today, the United Teachers of Los Angles Web site includes the following:
"We believe in Full Legalization for the undocumented and their right to live in liberty, an unalienable right. People should live free from persecution by enforcement of a broken immigration system."
UTLA believes we should open our borders to anyone, regardless of the cost to taxpayers.
And now, teachers are beginning to turn students against the U.S. itself.
Barack Obama wants taxpayers to bail out teachers and their unions to the tune of $23 billion. Notwithstanding the problem of bailing out local governments, no money should go to any school district where a teachers union supported illegal immigration. To be specific, Congress should pass no law rewarding the United Teachers of Los Angeles for supporting the destruction of our education system and our nation.
