It seems the liberal left and their lame stream media are working over-time to portray decent, hard-working Americans as "right-wing extremist".  The left is trying to convince themselves and others that if an American is concerned about any aspect of the government or politics they must be dangerous extremists.

black-man-tea-partyLiberals are working over-time trying to label the Tea Party as racists and extremists, and seem to be using their old stand-by, Big Lie.  You know, the one that says if you tell a lie long enough and loud enough, eventually people begin to believe it.

The left keeps forgetting that the one certain defense against the Big Lie, is simply the truth.  Truth works.  One reader, recognizing the truth of Lloyd Marcus's article was moved to relate his similiar experience.  So, take a look at a response from another one of those "racist, tea-party, right-wing extremist". . . .

LLoyd,
Thank you!  I've been part of the TEA Party movement and have attended a number of gatherings; including our 9/12 March in Washington.  Like you, I grew up during the social upheavals of the 1950's and 60's.  I remember Dr. King's speech very well.  I always felt that his quest to educate us until we could all look at each other's character rather than color, race, or creed was the most pivotal point in my young life.

I grew up in the South in a rural community.  I am also white.  Although I, like you, knew people who were prejudiced, I never really experienced the anger and hate of racism until I went into the military and was exposed to both black and white people from the Northern "liberal" cities!  Thank God, I joined the USAF where they were light years ahead of the rest of the nation in race/human relations.  They educated all of us, had seminars and forums to discuss the attitudes we all had, and promoted equality in every area of life with a zero tolerance for racism.

Eventually, I recall taking a survey where at the end I was asked for demographic information.  When I got to race/ethnic background question, there were at least a dozen choices ranging from Aleut/Eskimo through White.  There was also a blank space for a write-in titled "Other".  After a little introspection, and disgust that anyone was even gathering this data, I wrote in "PROUD AMERICAN"!  I thoght that was the end of it and my little one man protest was over.  However, when one of my administrative Sergeants was assembling the surveys to send them into "Social Actions", he read mine and asked me why I put that down under race/ethnicity.  I mention now that this Sergeant happened to be a black man.  I asked him what he put down.  He replied "African-American".  Surprised, I asked him if he was from Africa?  He said no.  I asked if his mother or father was from Africa, he again said no.  I asked if his grandparents were from Africa; again he said no.  I asked if he had ever even known ANYBODY from Africa, and again he said no.  My point being made, I asked him the color of his UNIFORM and he said green.  I asked him what color my uniform was and he said green.  I asked him what color do we bleed and he said red.  Then I just looked at him and he understood; he was a PROUD AMERICAN too!

I thank God everyday for being lucky enough to have been born in this great country and have been given my liberty by the sacrifices of those who went befor me.  I pray that some day, Dr. King's dream for all of us will come true.  I pray that we can be judged by our actions, our character, our integrity and not by our ethnic or racial makeup, our bank accounts, our clothes, or even what part of the country we come from.

To me, America is the Dream.  America and what it stands for is the Hope.  We don't need to CHANGE the FUNDAMENTAL structure of American Liberty.  We need to CHANGE a lot of devious, self-serving, ideologue politicians!

Again Lloyd, THANK YOU for standing tall for what you believe.  Dr. King would certainly be very proud!

Bill

Now, if that is what the Liberal Left believes is a racist, extremist perspective, then maybe they are correct, since I believe that the above reader comment represents what everyone I know in the Tea Party hopes for this country.
