The New Year opens in style, to the tune of more Islamic terrorist attacks. The most prominent being a Muslim of Somali origin breaking into the house of Kurt Westergaard, known for his bomb-in-turban drawing. The Muslim wanted to kill Kurt Westergaard for his drawing, as the drawing links Muhammad and Islam with terrorism and violence.

The English language accounts are a bit confusion at the time of writing, so here is a summary based on Danish media reports, with thanks to Gates of Vienna for getting this out fast:
A Somali man with contacts to the Al-Qaeda-inspired terrorist group Al-Shabaab broke into the home of cartoonist Kurt Westergaard the night between January 1st and January 2nd 2010. He was wielding a knife and an axe, and was screaming out that he was there to kill KW in revenge for his cartoon depicting Islam as violent. KW hit the alarm button and escaped to the safe room of the house.
That frustrated the representative of the The Religion of Peace, who left the house without having accomplished any killing.
Outside two police patrols were arriving. The would-be killer promptly assaulted one of them with his axe, which prompted the policeman to neutralize him by firing two shots, which hit his hand and his knee. The assailant is now hospitalized, and will be charged with two counts of attempted murder. Due to the high standards of Danish hospitals, he will survive and probably not be crippled, either.
Islamic organizations have published condemnations of varied quality. Some make a point of condemning not only the assault as such, but also 'extremist acts' (like drawing cartoons) leading to it.

Don't count on 'President' Obama doing anything effective. He'd rather intimidate and shut up those annoying bloggers than deal with the real problems. We'd be better off with him continuing his Hawaii holiday for another three years and let others deal with the problems.
This will be a A Decade of Jihad. Either we win it or we lose it. Our choice.
Oh. Truly moderate Islamic leaders should declare that anyone committing violence in the name of Islam have profoundly misunderstood the religion, and have thus become apostates, non-Muslims, with all that implies.
