Newt’s Big Tent Seems to Attract A Lot of Clowns

Amazingly Newt Gingrich continues to attack conservatives who refuse to support the Republican NY-23 pro-abortion, pro- gay marriage, pro big spending candidate (Dede Scozzafava) whom a handful of Republicans put in place and all of the Congressional Republican leadership, except for Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.), support.

The former Speaker of the House, showing a lot of the same logic that ultimately lost control of the House for the Republicans, blames anti-Dede folks as wanting to "purge" the Republican Party and that we forgot the "big tent" strategy that wins majorities.

Well Newt's big tent remarks reminds me of one of my favorite original quotes: "The only thing you find under a big tent is a bunch of clowns." Let's take a close look at some of the jesters who pour out of Newt's clown car. First you have ACORN, the scandal ridden Democratic support group, which has backed Ms. Scozzafava in past elections. Then comes Markos Moulitsas, the take no prisoners founder of the liberal (and usually offensive) blog Daily Kos. Now National Review Online exposes a new clown, the pro-abortion on demand advocates NARAL. They released this statement in support of Newt's candidate:

"Basically, becoming involved in this race was a no-brainer for us; she's got a 100% pro-choice record and a clear record of commitment to reproductive and women's health care issues," said NARAL Pro-Choice NY's Mary Alice Carr.

You can judge a man or woman by their friends and with friends like these Newt is the one purging the Republican Party of conservatives.
