In spite of 100+ degree temperatures, young and old, people from every ethnic, cultural, social, religious and (importantly) political persuasion were out in force at the Dallas Tea Party! There was a noticeable lack of "hyphen" Americans, as Michelle Malkin noted in her speech, but a wealth of just plain old, down home, Don't Tread On Me Americans. Conservative [no pun intended here] estimates put the day long attendance at well over 10,000. As the sun went down and the temperature dropped, the attendance went up and up and up! Wonderful speakers, excellent music and marvelous fireworks all worked together to make this a tremendously successful Dallas Tea Party.
At this Tea Party, we saw a tremendous "coming together", we saw no Conservative-Americans, Liberal-Americans, African-Americans, Mexican-Americans, White-Americans, Jewish-Americans, Muslim-Americans, Gay/Lesbian-American or any other group who were more interested in promoting some special interest agenda than in taking part in a celebration of an American tradition. We just saw Americans! Everyone was intent on meeting with neighbors, celebrating our country's independence and finding lots of common ground in the overwhelming disappointment in the government. Those who attended wanted their voice to be heard, we are "Taxed Enough Already"! As you walked around you could hear the conversations, all points of view being explained, debated, discussed, and with no rancor, no name calling, nothing like was sure to be done in the main stream media. Maybe they should have come to Dallas!
Theodore Roosevelt said -
"The effort to keep our citizenship divided against itself, by the use of the hyphen and along the lines of national origin is certain to breed a spirit of bitterness and prejudice and dislike between great bodies of our citizens. If some citizens band together as German-Americans or Irish-Americans, then after a while others are certain to band together as English-Americans or Scandinavian-Americans, and every such banding together, every attempt to make for political purposes a German-American alliance or a Scandinavian-American alliance, means down at the bottom an effort against the interest of straight-out American citizenship, an effort to bring into our nation the bitter Old World rivalries and jealousies and hatreds."
It seems plain enough, that if you have the interest of anything other than just America at the heart of your actions, your protests, your demands, you walk seriously close to that line in the sand, so that in the end the only hyphen you can claim is that of Un-American.

Any way you spell it, it still comes out - I Love You America!
A veteran saluting the flag and singing the National Anthem, notice the goosebumps on his arm. In 100+ degree heat! His daughter places her hand over her heart and sings along with him having grown up knowing how to give honor to Old Glory.
Young and young at heart braved the heat to be able to participate in this Dallas Tea Party. We are all proud to be American! I'm betting that there will be some few in the main stream media though who will scoff and sneer at such sentimentalism, who would make fun of those of us who are still proud of our country. Unlike some, we have been proud of our country EVERY day, not just on days when we think we got "our way".
From early in the day, the crowds grew and grew, there was an excitement in the air, an anticipation, a knowing that it was important to be a part of this event.
