by Peter W. Wright July 4th, 2009 I was going to write a letter to Michael Steele, the chairman of the Republican National Committee, starting like this:
"Dear Mr. Steele,
Would it be too much to ask for someone in the Republican Party to stand up and exercise some leadership?"
And now, presto! Sarah Palin stands up! Finally. The Republican establishment sits dumbfounded in the midst of the most concerted attack ever on American liberty, in denial of the fact that the Republican Party must be Conservative in order to succeed, and spellbound by the spectacle of our elected representatives passing socialist legislation that they have not even read.
Only John Boehner has been able to summon up the temerity to protest. Until now. Now there really is hope. Hope that the palpable vacuum in Republican leadership will be filled.
Here is what I hope: I hope that Sarah Palin will move down to the lower 48 and engage herself in getting ready to make her run for the Presidency. While she is doing this, I hope she will articulate her clear vision and core values in our mission to save our country from socialism and tyranny. It is time to stand up to the media onslaught that is the Obama administration and say, "No, we are not going any further down this documented road of regression." It is time to say no to cap and trade, socialized medicine, and consorting with dictators.
I hope Sarah will lead us in the fight to reclaim our birthright. She has my support. This is a better 4th of July knowing there is someone willing to stand up for America. My mother would have said, "it's high time."=
