Socialism Continues to Ruin Countries Print E-mail

The legacy of Karl Marx:

Throughout history, socialism has never produced a single prosperous society,
but has ruined many.

Those who died defending our freedoms did not do so with a socialist America in mind.

This reminder from John Eidson, creator of www.TeaPartyWarrior.com comes at an important time for America.

John is one of the hundreds of thousands, even millions across the United States seeking legitimate relief from the oppressive yoke government is becomming.

Many people who received my e-mails promoting the Tax Day Tea Parties e-mailed back asking, "Who are you?" My name is John Eidson, a virtually unknown long-time conservative who is slack-jawed at the reckless debt being left to our children and grandchildren by both political parties.

President Bush and Republican Congresses betrayed the people who elected them by doubling the national debt in just eight years. Now, President Obama and his party are using the economic crisis as cover for unprecedented spending on new social programs that have nothing to do with stimulating the economy, but everything to do with saddling future generations with an unconscionable trail of unpaid bills. Republicans got what they deserved in the last two elections, and are no longer in charge of leading America into bankruptcy. That job is now being performed with  zealous determination by Democrats, who have set the country on what has every appearance of being a hard turn toward full-blown socialism.

Having observed actions taken by President Obama during the first weeks of his  administration, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned the United States not to follow the path toward socialism. "In the 20th century, the Soviet Union made the state's role absolute," Putin said during a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. "In the long run, this made the Soviet economy totally uncompetitive. This lesson cost us dearly." Indeed it did, as socialism does everywhere it is tried.

In the Soviet Union and elsewhere, history has repeatedly shown that the astronomical costs of trying to create a social utopia are unsustainable. Socialism is in eternal conflict with the basic human instinct that those who work hard, risk their capital and employ their ingenuity expect to do significantly better than those who don't. When the producer class eventually tires of being forced to subsidize ever-increasing numbers of people who refuse to take responsibility for their own lives, socialism can survive only at the point of a gun.

For those who were willing to examine Barack Obama's long-standing associations with far-left radicals whose common thread was contempt for the American free enterprise system, it's no surprise that he is not governing as the moderate he claimed to be. Even so, he is our president, and as such does not deserve to be on the receiving end of the kind of vicious and often baseless personal attacks as was his predecessor. That said, the millions of Americans who strongly oppose his apparent concept of "fairness" - cradle-to-grave welfare financed by massive wealth redistribution - have every right to challenge him on the issues.

Like a giant anaconda, Behemoth Government has been strangling the financial well-being of our great country for the last four decades. Conservatives alone will not be able to reverse that trend. Independents and rational Democrats will eventually realize that their children and grandchildren will also be subjected to lifetimes of economic bondage unless the fiscal madness is stopped. One of the missions of the Tea Party Movement should be to help every American arrive at that realization before it's too late.
