Roy Beck
NumbersUSA.com
Author and lecturer Roy Beck, executive director of NumbersUSA, has been one of the most visible chroniclers and spokesmen on the effects of mass immigration on quality of life issues in the United States. The Houston Chronicle labeled him "one of the five leading thinkers in the national immigration debate." The prestigious Foreign Affairs journal stated that nobody has made a more persuasive case for cutting current high levels of immigration. "All sides can learn from Roy Beck," said Business Week magazine.
Partial transcription:
"The problem is not immigrants , the problem is the number of immigrants"
"In the 40 years prior to 1965 (1925 - 1965) we had an average of 178,000 immigrants per year."
"During this time frame, as never before, "immigrants were so welcome, assimilated so quickly, or when they did so well."
"Because we had lower immigration, we had a tighter labor market"
[editor's note]can you say "supply and demand"? fewer workers = higher demand = employers "competing" for those workers = higher wages]
"Because of this dynamic, the US became an enhanced "middle class" society during this period of time."
"During this time (1925 - 1965) there was the highest increase of income for black Americans, and the increase was faster than for white Americans."
"Tight labor market is the best friend that any worker ever had . . ."
"In 1965 Congress changed the immigration laws and sent the numbers skyrocketing."
"Between 1965 and 1989 the US averaged over 500,000 immigrants per year (507,000)"
"In the 1990's the US averaged over 800,000 immigrants per year"
"Current US averages over 1,000,000 per year. The numbers have overwhelmed us."
Please view this brief video, there is nothing racist, bigoted, intolerant, nor is it hate speech. It is plain talk, facts and undeniable figures. This video is an exceptional explanation of possibly the most important aspect of the immigration issue most vitally important to our country. Take a few minutes and enjoy this thoughtful and informational presentation.
Please keep in mind, Mr. Beck is addressing only the legal immigration numbers. His chart deals with only geometric increases of those who immigrate legally, abiding by the U.S. law. Knowing that thousands more every year stream into this country illegally, negatively impacting the economy, exacerbating unemployment and drastically overburdening our social services.
