Opinion/Editorial

This Thursday, Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY), who chairs the Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security and Refugees, will hold a hearing on April 30 at 2:00 pm (EDT) entitled "Comprehensive Immigration Reform in 2009, Can We Do It and How?"
A Bill that should have been entitled "Should we do it and WHY?"

Understand that while America desperately needs Immigration reform, it does not need a third tidal wave of illegal aliens, flooding across the borders, like the previous Amnesty bills produced.  Bills, which promised the American people, the American taxpayers, that it was the "last".  We were promised that there would never be another "Amnesty" asked for.  "Never" seems to be a much shorter time frame than what I thought it was.

Senator Schumer has packed the witness panel with individuals hopelessly biased in support of amnesty.  While there is only one witness, Kris Kobach, who is a friend of true immigration reformers, the remaining witnesses represent "a who's who" of the open borders lobby and big business interests who want to import cheap labor.  In addition to Mr. Kobach, the following individuals have also been named as potential witnesses at the hearing:

  • Alan Greenspan, Former Chairman, Board of Governors, Federal Reserve System
  • Eliseo Medina, Executive Vice President, Service Employees International Union
  • Doris Meissner - senior fellow, Migration Policy Institute

I feel this to be an excellent opportunity to make the voices of American taxpayers who are tired of bearing the burden of illegal aliens heard by calling your Senator today, you can make sure Congress hears from the American people and not just special interests groups, big business and the illegals themselves who have no right to any voice in how this country is run.

Your calls today, Thursday are especially important because the special interest group La Raza is hoping to organized a lobbying effort to coincide with the Senate Subcommittee hearing this week.  This nationwide effort will likely include phone calls, and - according to the best information - will culminate with marches on May 1st to demand amnesty.  It is noteworthy that those who are in this country illegally have no compunction about demanding rights to which they have no legal claim.

True Immigration Reformers Need to be Heard!

True immigration reformers understand that so-called "comprehensive immigration reform" is not in the best interest of the American people.  Granting amnesty to criminals who show a willingness to break our laws to be here, break our laws by fraudulently collecting money from social service programs to which they contribute nothing, rewards their criminality. Granting amnesty to illegal aliens rewards law-breakers, imposes a huge cost burden on American taxpayers, and does nothing to solve the problem of illegal immigration. In fact, as we saw after 1986, it only encourages more illegal immigration.

The Senate needs to hear from the American people who still oppose amnesty.  In 2007, true immigration reformers defeated "comprehensive" amnesty with a firestorm of calls to Congress. There are organizations* ready to lead the fight against the DREAM Act once again, but they need your help again!  Please call your Representative and Senators and tell them you oppose any effort to pass any "comprehensive" amnesty bill.

Contact your Senators.

Contact your Congressman

Make the call, make a difference, make it your country again!
