The bill also bans funds from any facility
where a substantial portion of the functions "of the facilities are subsumed in a religious mission." (Sec. 9302, Higher Education Modernization, Renovation, And Repair.)
This unprecedented exclusion of religious-based facilities has implications that go far beyond educational organizations that are religious.
It has implications for the future of school choice, setting a precedent that NO funds can go to religious or non-public schools.
Current law permits religious and nonpublic schools to receive funding under numerous education programs. This restriction will also impact schools that educate students with disabilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Act. No funding will go to religious or private schools that educate disabled kids using this federal program. This is a major reversal of government policy that ensures that students with disabilities can receive a religious education if they wish.
This stealth attack on religious, private education, and the handicapped, is a rejection of Obama's own previous statements on religion posted on his "change.gov" web site before the election.
On Obama's pre-election web site, under the section titled "Faith should not be used as a wedge to divide," Obama says that politics fans our religious differences and "drives us further apart." According to Obama: "Whatever we once were, we are no longer just a Christian nation; we are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers."
Obama also refers to himself as a "progressive" - code for socialist - on this pre-election site.
"Once again, Obama is using double talk to confuse Americans," said Rev. Sheldon. "This is more than the Camel's nose under the tent. This is just the beginning of the anti-Christian religious bigotry we're going to see over the next four years.
On the one hand, he claims that faith should not divide us, but then he uses the power of the federal government to strip religious and private school institutions of the right to receive federal funding - while supporting secular education. He is using the power of government to undermine religious education."
Money For ACORN, But Not Religious Education
President Obama's so-called economic stimulus package has included $4.19 billion in "block grant" funds for radical community groups such as ACORN, which has been involved in voter registration fraud scandals for more than two decades.
The money will be available to ACORN and other groups through a section on "neighborhood stabilization activities." The funds will be funneled through a law
already passed in 2008 called the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008.
ACORN has a long history of engaging in voter fraud. President Obama - as a community organizer in Chicago - actually trained ACORN workers.
TVC has published numerous articles in the past on the corrupt activities of ACORN:

Obama Pulls ‘Contraceptives' Bailout In Stimulus Package
Thanks to the outcry from taxpaying citizens and congressional leaders, President Obama was forced to pull out of the so-called stimulus package, the $200 million funding provision for "family planning" clinics (abortion clinics). House Republican Leader John Boehner, who lead the charge in the Congress and the media against this irresponsible and wasteful funding, was joined by Rep Mike Pence and many others.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi had defended the move to add millions for contraception and "family planning" to Obama's trillion dollar "stimulus" package for the economy.
Pelosi told George Stephanopoulos on ABC's This Week: "....the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. ... contraception will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government."
Section 5004 of the Obama stimulus package
provided funds for family planning clinics and for contraception. This section is gone in the House version, but could be quietly added back in the Senate version.
"Section 5004 undermined parental authority as well as provided a piggy bank for organizations such as Planned Parenthood. It undermined parental authority by permitting states to consider only the income of the applicant's income in determining what kind of benefits a person receives. A child without significant income could receive free family planning services without parental knowledge or consent under this legislation," said TVC Executive Director Andrea Lafferty. "This smells like a payoff to the abortion industry that helped elect Obama."
This section permitted family planning clinics to give two months of benefits under "presumptive eligibility" provisions and these benefits can be extended through additional eligibility periods - thus giving non-eligible persons extended coverage for such things as "emergency contraceptives."
Section 5004 also created a whole range of new eligibility groups under this law, including college students and adults without children.
This legislation also provided special legal protection for the state of California, which has been providing medical coverage to illegal immigrants although they are not eligible for Medicaid. The Bush Administration attempted to force California to abide by federal eligibility standards, but without success.
"Section 5004 is only one example of how bad the Obama spending spree is going to be," said Lafferty. "There is now talk among Democrats of nationalizing our banks.
How quickly will liberals turn our nation away from capitalism to the failed economics of socialism?"
