* The words of day for operation Cast Lead is slow down'. The Hamas shelled Israel only with about 30 missiles. The intensive of Israeli bombardment from the air was significantly reduced and the protest of Palestinians or Israeli Arabs against the operation almost diminished after police arrested more then 200 protesters who use violence and caused damage during the rallies. There are initial talks about "cease fire", due to French request, although both Hamas and Israel reject, in the current stage, any possible halt in operation.
* Israeli intelligence sources admitted that despite the severe blow to Hamas from the starting surprise the leadership, the military wing with its 16 thousands well equipped of Iranian trained fighters remains, basically, intact. The rocket system destroyed only by 50% and is still able to launch over 2,000 rockets to Israel and, same as the Hizbullah in Lebanon in summer 2006, Hamas is confident he can inflict enormous casualties on the Israeli ground troops should they invade Gaza Strip.
* The Hams, although decreased his fire, probably due to improvement in weather, broadened the range of fire and added more Israeli towns to its targets list such as the suburbs of Beersheba, 37 km East to Gaza Strip or Kiryat Malaakhi, 32 km North East to Gaza. One of the targets was the Bedouin village of Rahat, Northern to Beersheba. About 10% of Israel's population is now under daily missiles threat.
* The International community increased its involvement in the conflict. Housni Mubarak, the president of Egypt and the most important mediator between Israel and the Palestinians factions demanded from Israel to hold fire immediately. Nikola Sarkozi, the President of France, announced his intendance to visit Israel in the first week of January 2009 and his expectation to a gesture from Israel ahead to his visit.
* For the moment it seems that operation Cast Lead reaches to a dead end. * Read more - TANGLED-ISRAEL ; OPERATION CAST LEAD ; Cast-Lead Diary ;
