December 02, 2008 Right Side News Edinburg, Texas - Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley, Texas sector seized 1,043 pounds of marijuana and a 1994 Plymouth Voyager early Saturday afternoon.
Just prior to 3 p.m. Saturday, agents from the McAllen station encountered a 1994 Plymouth Voyager near Penitas, Texas. The vehicle was displaying Texas license plates belonging to another vehicle. As agents attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver opened his door and absconded. A search of the Voyager led to the discovery of 1,043 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $834,400.00.
The case was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration pending an investigation.

This is just more wasted tax money. No one with an ounce of awareness seriously thinks this makes any difference. The people who most do not want the "war on drugs" to end are the pushers and suppliers. That is what keeps their profit up. The other group who don't want it to end are those whose job it is to bring it to a end. Then need the job.
There is so much marijuana (an agent with very good medicinal attributes for some people, and much less socially negative effects than alcohol) that this seizure means zip, zero, nada.
When the "war on drugs" started, an estimated 2% of Americans were using illicit drugs. Today, after a trillion of your tax dollars wasted, the estimate is 46%. And anyone connected with it know this.
So, I say, "who cares." Spare us the travesty.
