Standwithus Urges The Public To Stand Up Against Ahmadinejad
(Los Angeles) -- StandWithUs, the international, non-profit Israel education organization is deeply disturbed that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was given a platform by the UN, CNN's Larry King, and some Christian groups who sponsored an interfaith dinner for him in New York City. Ahmadinejad's views and actions are a moral and intellectual affront to all citizens of the free world. He should be denounced and tried for his crimes, not courted.

The StandWithUs mission is to teach peace by educating communities and students around the world with facts about the Middle East so they can combat the lies and propaganda that people like Ahmadinejad use to incite intolerance, hatred, war, and genocide.  Ahmadinejad's UN speech on Sept. 23rd demonized and dehumanized Jews, Israel, and the West. He called for the elimination of a fellow UN member state, Israel.  He repeatedly denies the Holocaust even as he seems to prepare the ground for another Holocaust with his reckless announcements that Israel will soon be wiped off the map.  His country is the chief exporter of terrorism against innocent civilians.  In defiance of the UN, he is racing to build a nuclear arsenal that will threaten his region and freedom-loving nations.
Ahmadinejad also terrorizes his own people.  In 2008, the U.S. State Department reported that Ahmadinejad's Iran has one of the world's worst human rights records.  The Islamic Regime executes children, debases women, tortures political dissents, persecutes religious minorities, and uses cruel and inhumane punishments such as amputation, stoning, hanging, and bodily mutilation.
Ahmadinejad does not believe in freedom of speech for his compatriots, but with the complicity of the UN, CNN, and his dinner hosts, he exploited our freedoms to spread his dangerous messages.  From the main hall of the UN, he made a mockery of the UN's fundamental principles.
Unlike Iranians, we have freedom, but that freedom entails responsibility.  We must firmly and unequivocally stand up against Ahmadinejad who violates international law, our most cherished values, and our hopes for a more humane and peaceful world.
A half century ago, the world believed a fanatic's words were just words, and stood by-and paid a devastating price.  We must not let that happen again.
We cannot afford apathy or appeasement. Now is the time to act.
StandWithUs has co-sponsored rallies to protest against Ahmadinejad.  We have redoubled our efforts to teach peace and tolerance around the world.  We urge all people of good conscience to act now by writing to the UN, CNN, political and religious leaders and international consulates. Together, we can defeat this danger that threatens freedom-loving people everywhere.
