Texas Border Patrol Agents Seize Abandoned $2.3 Million in Dope

Laredo, Texas - Border Patrol agents from the Zapata stationseized more than $2 million worth of marijuana Sunday.  While responding to reports of suspicious activity on a ranch near Lopeno,Texas, Border Patrol agents discovered a flatbed trailer hidden in the brush. ABorder Patrol service canine alerted toward the trailer, suggesting thepresence of hidden people or contraband.

          
The agents removed the trailer's floorboards and found 181 cellophane-wrapped bundles containing marijuana. The marijuana bundles had a total weight of 2,890 pounds and an approximate street value of $2.3 million.  The trailer and the drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
