Mex. federal deputy (read: Congresswoman) Alliet Bautista Bravo, Secretary of the Human Rights Committee, "denounced" the increase of roundups in the United States which have resulted in the repatriation of 260 thousand co-nationals compared with 100 thousand two years ago. She demanded that the Mex."SRE" (Foreign Relations Dept.) make information available about the number of Mexicans in that situation; she also expressed her worry about the anti-immigrant climate in the U.S. and said that she calls upon the Hispanic Caucus of the House of Representatives of the United States Congress so that its members may continue their efforts to protect hispanic migrants.
Remember, this caucus are all Democrats of Hispanic descent, and very pro Amnesty. (Current Members)

The driver of a northbound truck stopped short when he saw a highway checkpoint at Juchitan, Oaxaca (2nd most southerly state of Mexico); then the driver dismounted and literally took off for the hills. Inside the unit, Mex. army personnel found 128 undocumented aliens including 33 women, five minors and eight Asians, not otherwise identified.

Cuarto Poder (Tuxtla, Chiapas) , Prensa Libre (Guatemala City, Guat.) 7/3/08
Two third class buses were stopped by police at Tecpatan, Chiapas, on Tuesday ; each bus was loaded with 124 passengers - all illegal aliens from Guatemala except for one Dominican. Five smugglers, some of whom were providing escort in another vehicle, were also arrested after a bribery attempt failed. 240-some Guatemalans will be deported today (Thur.) or tomorrow. Last year Mexico deported 39,000 Guatemalans from this area.
El Debate (Culiacan, Sinaloa) 7/3/08
A firefight took place Wednesday afternoon between Mex. federal police and thugs in Culiacan, It ended with four dead triggermen and two other subjects arrested. The safehouse where the fight took place yielded fifteen AK47 assault rifles, one AR15, seven clips with 100 round capacity, ten with 60 round capacity, and a backpack with ammo of different calibers.
El Diario (Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua) 7/3/08
According to the Chihuahua office of the Dept. of Justice at least five persons from the U.S. have died in Ciudad Juarez this year because of the wave of violence generated by narcotraffic; the figure could be higher because the place of origin of many has not yet been identified.
Between 2005 and 2007, Ciudad Juarez had 4% of deaths in Mexico of U.S. citizens for various causes, while Tijuana had 10% and Nuevo Laredo 6%. During that same period, in all Mexico, there were 600 incidents where some person from the U.S. died, a figure which places U.S. deaths abroad in first place, above Iraq.

In Nogales, a citizen report led Mex. army personnel to a house in the El Rodeo subdivision. A group of persons fled from there when they saw the soldiers. In the house: 1,086 kilos of marihuana, firearms and clips.
Frontera (Tijuana, Baja Calif.) 7/3/08
Tijuana had a surge of violent crime during the first half of 2008., There were 242 homicides, an increase of 60% over 2007. Kidnappings and forcible abductions rose to 79. And violent robbery reports reached 2,943, 17% more than in the previous year.

Zacatecas Governor Amalia Garcia Medina spoke at the closing session of the International Socialist World Congress in Athens, Greece, which condemned the border fence being built along the U.S. Mexico border as well as the one which divides Israel and Palestine.
Garcia Medinas remarks will be included in the final report of the International Socialist, which is formed by 150 socialist and democratic parties from around the world. She said that it was time to build bridges of understanding between peoples and not walls that divide them. She added that there are more than 200 million migrants from the whole world and that the number can increase because of global warming and the food crisis.

A long article details the executions of ten men in four states of Mexico within the last 24 hours. Locales involved include Sinaloa, Michoacan, Guerrero and Chihuahua. El Universal today added an item about the kidnapping of Rafael Rios, head of the Sinaloa state police section combating auto theft. And in Oaxaca a businessman was also kidnapped and one of his security bodyguards was killed.
