Border Fence Construction Costs Skyrocket
Cities can build an entire 4 lane arterial highway for $4.4 million per mile but it cost the Department of Homeland Security $4.6 million per mile to build a flimsy fence near Sasabe, Arizona.

As reported earlier by American Border Patrol, this fence was built fairly smooth terrain using very simple construction methods. "When I saw this fence under construction and found out what the DHS was paying, I was certain there had to be more to it," said Glenn Spencer of American Border Patrol. Spencer was wrong, the fence at Sasabe was, and is, a simple, almost decorative fence.

According to a report in the Tucson Citizen DHS plans to complete construction of 670 miles of fencing and barriers by the end of 2008. Spencer said ABP will fly the border this week to see how well they are doing.
