The battle between open-borders extremists and the U.S. Border Patrol in Calexico may mark the beginning of the intifada predicted by Andres Oppenheimer. "The rapid escalation of the U.S. anti-immigration hysteria - fueled by ratings-hungry cable-television hotheads and leading Republican presidential hopefuls - is a dangerous trend: It may lead to a Hispanic intifada that may rock this nation in the not-so-distant future." "Americans must understand that we are in a pre-war period and that blame for the inevitable civil war must lie at the feet of those who subverted our immigration laws," said Glenn Spencer of American Patrol.
